Tips and Advice

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to take photos?
The early morning and late evening usually create the best lighting. Make sure to consider proper lighting for indoor events; natural lighting from windows and other sources are best, but if not turn up the lights!

How should I prepare for photos?
Above all come with a positive attitude and be yourself. Come with ideas that you are interested in so you get the style you want. Secondly, find photos you like and practice posing in the mirror, pretending that the mirror is the camera. Knowing how to position yourself is key to helping the process and can help to recreate photos of your liking. Thirdly, sometimes less is best when dealing with cosmetics, highlight your natural beauty and let it shine!

Why do my prints from my personal printer look different then what is on my screen?
Digital photos may appear different on every screen do to calibration issues, so make sure to calibrate your screen to your printer. To learn more about this topic Google “Color Calibration” and “Color Management”.

How long do formals take after a wedding ceremony?
For small bridal parties 30-45 minutes. For larger bridal parties 45-60 minutes. After the ceremony it's very important not to get too distracted greeting people, that time will come, but the sooner everyone migrates to the reception the sooner we can start formals. The bridal party knows that photos are expected of them, but if you want certain aunts or uncles or others in formals try to notify them before the event so you don’t miss out on photos.

What's the best way to make sure I get the photos I want?
Included with our contract is a basic list of common photos that you can expect us to take. However, the best way is to sit down and take some time to make a list of the people outside the bridal party you would like included in the formal shots. It is also good idea to include names so we know who we're photographing. Give this list to us and someone whom you trust and knows most of the people on your list, someone who can take charge, preferably someone with a loud voice.

What brand of equipment do you use?
We use Canon, professional, digital, SLR cameras, and we also favor Canon lenses.
