Chef Alexis handles all cake consultations personally, and will work with you to turn your ideas into a wonderful work of art. We use all-natural ingredients like local farm-fresh eggs, sweet butter, pure Madagascar vanilla, fine European chocolate and fresh fruits. Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings? Cakewalk offers complimentary cake tasting for up to four people, and we provide a wide variety of our house-made cakes, tortes, fresh fillings and frostings for your consideration.
What are your tasting hours? We schedule our tasting consultations by appointment only, so that Alexis can give her full attention to your wedding cake design. Days and times vary, however we are very flexible and will accommodate your weekend or evening requests whenever possible.
Describe how you price, such as by slice or by tier, for your cakes? Wedding cakes are priced by the slice, with sugar art or other very intricate design work priced individually.
Does the price include the top-tier of the cake? The top tier is always complimentary. If you wish to serve your entire wedding cake, Cakewalk offers a separate "first anniversary" miniature cake, packaged for the bride and groom to save (we often hear they can't wait to eat it and share it much sooner than the first anniversary!).
Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles? All of our cakes are custom-designed taking our clients' ideas and wishes into consideration throughout the creative process.
What (if any) special ingredients, such as fresh fruits or farm-fresh butter, do you use in your cakes? All of our cakes are made from scratch using the freshest top-quality ingredients. We use local produce and fresh organic eggs whenever possible, as well as sweet butter, heavy cream, cane sugar and minimally-processed ingredients with no preservatives. Our cakes and fillings are NEVER frozen, always fresh.
On average, how far in advance of the wedding day do you prepare the cake? All wedding cakes are baked within three days of the wedding, frostings and fillings within two days. Wedding cakes are finished and assembled the day of delivery.
On average, how many wedding cakes do you do for a weekend? We do three to five wedding cakes per weekend on average.
Will you work with the bride's florist to garnish the cake? We are happy to work directly with the florist so that the bride doesn't have to serve as the go-between, and she knows her vendors are communicating on the final look of her cake.
What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out? We have cake stands and serving pieces available for rent, and also create custom bases to coordinate with our cakes.
Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee? We deliver and set up our wedding cakes for a fee ranging on average between $30 - 70 depending upon distance.
