I am getting married at 22 years old. (but will be closer to 23 by the wedding date) and I have been disappointed by the amount of people who have told me that I am "too young". .especially at work. My new department is awesome but I worked with a lot of (for the lack of a better word) bitter women who were either divorced or did not believe in marriage and made sure I knew that whether I asked them or not lol. I met my fiance when I was in highschool. We were best friends for over a year until he became my boyfriend. We have been inseperable for over six years. This is unimportant to a lot of people because of our age but it's irritating to me because we didn't run to the courthouse at 18 behind our parent's back and make a huge impulsive decision. (not that that can't work out. one of my best friend's is going on 7 years after doing that) but he's done with school and working as an agricultural truck driver. I am halfway done but still have a great job at a hospital and weare doing well for our age. We have a nice life together in a nice condo with our dogs haha,

I'm not posting this for anyone to say "who cares what they think.." etc etc I'm more just wanting to see who can relate and hear the cute love stories Smiley tongue

My husband and I started dating when I was 17. We got engaged at 19. Married at 21. We are celebrating our 41st anniversary this year! Congratulations and best wishes 👰🎩🥂

I feel you! I’m 22 now and will be 23 for our wedding. My fiancé is 10 years older than I am, but it’s his first marriage too. But I get people all the time who act so shocked when they find out I’m as young as I am and getting married. It’s ridiculous. We both have good hearts and share the same philosophies and outlooks in life so I am extremely confident in our future together and our marriage. However it doesn’t mean it doesn’t irritate me when people ask me if I’m sure I want to get married. Of course I’m sure. I’ve never been more sure.

I got engaged on my 24th birthday and will be married the day before my 25th birthday. I have yet to hear that i am too young, it may be because i'm not that young lol. I think my parents wanted me to get married because my fiance has made me a better person. My fiance will be 26 when we get married so he isn't so young. His family is more surpised that he is getting married because he was so carefree most of his adult life.

Yeah me too. At work some man said “YOU’RE GETTIN MARRIED?!” I said yes and then he was like “BUT YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO GET MARRIED”. His wife elbowed him and apologized lol. I didn’t think to much about it because people think I’m still in high school since I’m petite. My boss owns the business and also is a cop. One time his work friend came in at 10am and said to me “no offense... but aren’t you supposed to be in school right now”. I kinda laughed and said “Um I’m 20” I kinda get a kick out of the customers at work because they just have no idea. I do have one customer who is super excited for me and he always gives me fat tips for my wedding. My parents try and tell me I’m too young but they got married when my mom was even younger than me. It does hurt when it comes from family friends or when my parents make certain comments but I get that people are just concerned or even bitter from their own failed marriage. I think it’s just disappointing they feel the need to project it and trying to bring down a happy engaged couple rather than being supportive, constructive and encouraging.

I feel the same , I come from a family where everyone gets married very young and we’re young mothers , so for my family this isn’t weird because I will be 21 at our wedding which is quite old for my family lol . I do sometimes feel an outside sense of judgement because marriage and children are getting pushed back into older ages but it’s just not for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ Fiancé is 25 and I’m 20

I’m getting the same backlash. I’m 22 like you. We’ve been together for 8.5 years, yes since I was 14. He’s truly been my one and only. We grew up together. He proposed 4 days ago, we’re getting married in April. I am SO excited🥰

Congratulations! That's so cute. My vows include something along the lines of "I am so grateful that we have been lucky enough to both grow up and grow old together." :')
