You, your wedding dress, and the bathroom

For those of you who are wearing heavy dresses, big ball gown dresses, things with hoop skirts and petticoats and lots of layers of fabric, or really tight mermaid type dresses, will you be needing assistance going to the bathroom and getting in and out of cars and stuff? Do you have one of those tight dresses where you'd have to unlace or unzip or unbutton a lot of things.

How are you going to get a long with that? Did you designate a helper? Were these considerations for you when choosing your gown?

Thanks Smiley smile

It just now occured to me that after i put on my dress, i didn't go to the bathroom until we got to our hotel after midnight and i took my dress off. i didn't pee for like 12 hours. LOL! seems like i should have had some medical issues after that.

I guess I'm famous? Or perhaps infamous? I was the one who wrote the article about how to pee while wearing your wedding dress.

@ gina, i really think i reached a state of nirvana that day. nothing bothered me at all. i didn't make any decisions, i didn't care that we ran late, etc. and even though i had been drinking lots of water and had some wine, it never was never a thought.

hopefully you and some of the other ladies can have a day like me where you don't have to worry about using the bathroom and can just enjoy the day. lol

I definitely checked the cleanliness of the bathroom due to my mom's suggestion and we actually decided not to go with one due to space limitations and uncleanliness of the bathroom.

    Sherice thats awesome! Smiley smile

Stephanie Z, good thing you did.

I imagine it would suck if you had a train dress or long veil dragging on the floor of an icky bathroom floor.

I'm going to use the bathroom as much as I can before I get dressed. I know this probably won't work though because I have the urge to go when I'm nervous. Hopefully my teacher bladder won't fail me on my big day. I'm used to holding it for hours at a time. Yeah, not good for me I know.

Rashaeda J, as teachers always told me when I was growing up, "We can't just go when we feel like it like you guys" I commend you. Smiley smile

And I'm the same way when I'm nervous! It becomes like a symptom for me! lol

Just a tip- I've used the Go Girl thing. They are great for many things- but not for the wedding day. You're talking about that huge a dress... remember- you have to hold the 'device' right up against your body. You're better off following the directions Kristina posted. Face the potty and lean forward... Have your MOH, and maybe another BM hold you dress in the back so it doesn't drag on the floor.
