You, your wedding dress, and the bathroom

Gina, on July 9, 2011 at 1:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

For those of you who are wearing heavy dresses, big ball gown dresses, things with hoop skirts and petticoats and lots of layers of fabric, or really tight mermaid type dresses, will you be needing assistance going to the bathroom and getting in and out of cars and stuff? Do you have one of those tight dresses where you'd have to unlace or unzip or unbutton a lot of things.

How are you going to get a long with that? Did you designate a helper? Were these considerations for you when choosing your gown?

Thanks Smiley smile

Haha. Yeah I was like WTH is this when my sister first showed me. She's in the army and keeps them on her when deployed so she can "relieve herself" without removing all her gear. I think it's a must for any bride Smiley smile

I'm highly interested in one myself. I absolutely HATE public restrooms (although they're unavoidable sometimes) and I HATE when theres no seat covers or enough toilet paper to cover the seat. I don't even know how some restrooms just get so bad!.

That reminds me, did anyone check their venue's bathroom for cleanliness before booking? lol

I would be afraid of spilling the contents. Is this a silly concern?

There are no "contents". it has an opening at the bottom, think more like a funnel.

So the pee is going to jump back up and spray you which is the reason there is water on the seat right after a little boy uses the womens resroom. Just straddle the toilet. One of the married girls has a whole web page dedicated to the potty.

Ive always been told to sit down facing the toilet. have your girl(s) hold your dress up while you go

Someone posted a thread on how to use the bathroom with no help on your wedding day. I can't remember exactly how they said to do it, but I know you it went something like this -

    1. Walk into the handicapped stall. Remove (don’t just pull down) your underpants.

    2. Facing the toilet, pull up the front of your dress to your waist.

3 Walk straight forward, so you are straddling the toilet, and sit down that way. The train/back of your dress will now be away from the toilet, so you won’t get them wet or dirty.

    4. Lean forward before peeing. That way, even if you drop the front of the dress onto the seat, you will not pee in its direction.

I love the article that Kristina posted. I am so freaked out at the idea of someone being in the room with me while I'm peeing....Oh man....nightmares.....
