Would you take a day off to attend a friend’s wedding?

Mrs. Turner2B, on March 24, 2010 at 10:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 40

Oh my goodness, I’m starting to freak out cus 1. My best friend just realized my wedding is on a Friday and I’m wondering who else isn’t aware. And 2. I saw a Friday Weddings post here and most girls who are having a Friday wedding, it starts at 5:30 or 6pm and mine starts early at 3:30pm. I chose Friday to save on money and because that Thurday is Veteran’s day and my work is giving me Thursday and Friday off so I assumed this would be the case with a lot of my guests. Now I’m afraid people won’t come.

Send out save the dates! that way people will know way ahead of time that they need to take off, and yeah if it was a good friend i would totally take a day off of work to go to her wedding! im having a friday wedding too, and ceremony is at 2pm. the way i look at it, the most important people will be there no matter what, and if some people dont come, thats less i have to pay for!

I would absolutely take the day off for a friend's wedding! No questions asked! My wedding is at 5pm on a Friday and most of my guests will be traveling so they'll probably need to take the day off. But I'm confident that people will show up. No worries.

Don't worry "if you book them, they will come"! As long as you give enough of a notice, people can usually get time off to attend a loved ones wedding! Where there's a will, there's a way! My wedding is at 12:30 on a Friday, and we are going to do it whether or not people come!

My wedding is on a Sunday. I've unfortunately found out that a "good" friend of mine can't make it because she won't be able to get back in time for work on Monday. Everyone else didn't think twice about taking the day off. Bottom line is the important people will be there.

Yep, I would take the day off. Heck my best friend called me when she went into labor 2 years ago and I drove the five hours home and was here before she gave birth and then I went back to college the next day. Granted it is a different circumstance, but if they want to be there, they will find a way.

I would take a day off for a friends wedding. In fact my MOH's wedding was on a Friday and I took off Friday to help her get ready and took her to her venue. Then I figured out my schedule to keep her two kids for her while she went on a three day honey moon. Trust me your true friends will figure out a way to be there. Smiley smile (coughcoughcallinsickcoughcough)

I have taken off work to travel for quite a few wedding so of course they will come. Those that love you will find a way adn anyone who can't make it will send their love some other way. But sending out save the dates that clearly say Friday... the date etc would be a great idea.

I would absolutely take off for someone I consider a true friend. I am fortunate enough to have pretty liberal paid time off. I would not, however, count it against someone if their financial/job situation did not afford them the same luxury. I remember not being able to attend my own grandfather's funeral b/c I didn't have the money to travel and certainly couldn't afford to take the unpaid time off work.

My fiance and I will re-arrange our schedules for a good friend's wedding in a heartbeat. A not so good friend...it depends. If it happened to fall on a day we already had off, I would definitely spend my day off at the wedding. Of course, they never fall on our days off since they are in the middle of the week!

I agree! Send out Save the Dates that say: Save the Date for the wedding of....Friday, November 12, 2010. Then people will know without a doubt that is a Friday! People will come if you give them advanced warning! =)

For a good freind, yes I would take off if possible. Sometimes during deadlines, I am unable. But I would do anything I could to attend. Be sure to give everyone, significant notice. Some jobs require there employees to put in for time off at the beginning of the year.

I'm having mine on a Friday afternoon too. I know I would take off work for someone elses. I am having mine in the afternoon for the sunlight (which was mentioned in the Nov. Brides post :-D) and because it's kinda a destination wedding so everyone will have to travel to get there anyway. Besides Friday afternoon weddings give them a longer weekend (who doesn't love that!) :-)

I would take off work for a good friend...for someone else I am not sure. I would do anything for my best friends but if I was just a "regular" guest I would have to see if it fit into my schedule. I am not given the same holidays as everyone else...we never close...so it really depends. As wonderful as a wedding is people do have their own lives and their own families to worry about. But everyone really close to you will be there no matter what.
