Would you still have a photographer for your vow renewal and reception?

Charlotte, on September 19, 2020 at 7:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Like a lot of couples, we decided to elope on our original wedding date. Only our parents and wedding party were present for the ceremony. We had photos done of our intimate ceremony and took a TON of photos of just the two of us. Next year, we're planning on doing a simple vow renewal or vow reading and a reception. Am I weird to want that photographed? I'm bummed because my partner and I took dance lessons and practiced so hard on our first dance. I want photos of that, photos of our original wedding cake, the decorations, reception photos, more photos with my bridesmaids, more photos with my family, etc. Would you spend a little extra money to have photographs of that? Just curious what everyone else is doing!!

Go for it. I would definitely pay for a photographer to document it.

I personally would not hire one, or If I did, they would have to be really affordable.

Go for it! We had a micro DW and separate local reception and had a professional photographer at both. We didn’t have a cake or dancing at our DW, but did at our local reception. Plus we had separate guest lists. Great having so many photos! 📷

We're definitely having one. We did for our miniwedding and I love our photos and I'm so glad we have them, but I still want professional pictures of us with people who weren't there.

Why in the world WOULDN'T you have a photographer for the big party?

You'll get all kinds of pictures with friends, for the fun stuff, and even for maybe your fancy dress?

Go for it! You'll appreciate those pictures later.

I would DEFINITELY have another photographer, in fact I am. Even though you’re already married this is your big celebration with family and friends, why wouldn’t you want that captured?

I’m having a photographer at both my minimony and big wedding

Yes, I would spend the money. My hubs and I celebrated our one year anniversary on July 25, 2020. We had a friend photograph our wedding (it's a side gig she does because she has the spendy camera and the ability and time), she also did my hair and makeup. we paid her $600 for the day. Great price, right? Well, we got our pictures back and honestly, I wish we would have gone professional. Now, that day is gone and we have just a few famiy pictures where my mom looks depressed in every picture and hubs family looks less than enthused. I'm not really sure what the problem was with the people in the pictures, but the photographer should have straighted them out for these pictures. I don't even have any hanging in our house because there's just nothing amazing to show. Pay the extra money and get a real photographer.

I told my husband it wasn't an option to not have one... with my first wedding we didn't have a pro do it instead my ex had his aunt do it... we had 2 pictures of us and that was it... I'm not going through that again the only thing that we've debated on is when to have the photographer start lol

I definitely would! We’re planning to have our photographer and videographer at our big wedding next year and we’re using our engagement session that came in our wedding package for our small ceremony this year.
