Would you pay for a professional to setup your candy buffet?

FutureMrsHodges, on August 20, 2011 at 1:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

I ran across a company that does candy, cookie, dessert and popcorn buffets for events. They supply all food , food containers ,bags with monogram, signage, setup and clean-up. Then they charge an extra $25 per hour for an attendant to be at the event. Would you pay for for this service ?

In theory, absolutely... I would not do a candy buffet personally (just not my thing), but iif it is not something your planner is going to set up for you- definitely go for it.

If no other vendor is tasked with making sure the candy buffet is taken care of, I guess yes.

Well when I did the math its cheaper for them to do it . After you get though buying jars, candy, bags, scoops and all the other stuff. Then on top of that its one less thing I have to worry about on the wedding day. Another thing to consider once you set it up and the guest start taking candy who is going to refill the jars and make sure the guest are not being greedy . Some DIYs aren't worth the headache to save 5 bucks. IMO

Yep and I actually did this and it was the best decision I think I made with regard to the dessert. We had a dessert buffet and incorporated the candy and popcorn in with it. I paid just as much for all the candy as I would have if I had to buy it in bulk myself. I rented all the jars and got that money back when I returned the jars. They decorated the jars, brought in all the bags, placed everything out and it was so nice just having it show up and not having to worry about it. Combining the popcorn with it was a huge hit as well.

I wouldn't. It will cost you less to buy everything yourself and ask your friends and family to help you set it up. Plus you can do it so much in advance, it's not worth paying someone to come and put it up for you...

$15-20 each for jars? You can get them for way less than that!

If I were doing a candy buffet, I would definitely do it! Love the idea because I am not a fan of the way half eaten candy buffets look.

You can catch glassware @ Hobby Lobby for 50% off when they have the sales. I'm sure they'll have some before next year again! Hope so!

Plus you can get some glass containers from Dollar Tree too!

^ what she said...also walmart has some inexpensive glassware. I got some jars last x-mas for snacks for fh's bar. I think they were $5-10 depending on the lid and size. I went with a screw lid to keep the snacks fresh.
