Would You Let Your Bridesmaids Wear Their Own Wedding Dress To Your Ceremony?

The Bride, on July 23, 2019 at 9:39 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 28
While watching television I learned that a recent bride, Audrey Moore, asked her bridesmaids to rock their own wedding dress to her ceremony. And yes all of her bridesmaids are married. Audrey felt that it wasn't fair that brides only get to wear their wedding dress once and you should get more wear out the expensive gowns. In lieu of the traditional white wedding dress Audrey wore a blue dress to stand out from her bridesmaids.

What are your thoughts? Would you let your bridesmaids wear their own wedding dress to your ceremony? Why or why not?

Well only half of mine are married so that would complicate this plan!
Also my friends have much more upscale ballgown style than I do, I'd probably be under dressed if I did that.
At point my bridesmaid and I were so close people thought we were dating and when she got married she was asked several times why it wasn't to me. 🤦 The two of us photographed in wedding gowns together would absolutely cause a ruckus. 😂

Only 1 is married and she doesn’t have a dress (they went to the courthouse) so this wouldn’t be an option for me.

BUT it’s definitely not for me anyways. I think it’s a cute idea, but it works best if the bride has a more non traditional dress (like the blue one)

Only one of my friends is married so that’s out the question.. but if they all were married I would love to!!! My dress will be red so I will definitely stand out with all of them wearing white!!!

Oh that's interesting! Ahah. For her case since her dress stood out in blue it wouldn't matter that the others were in white. For me that woulda been weird because none of mine are married or engaged even aha. But I think if that was the case for me that'd be really fun xD gives them a chance to rewear it! Aha

No. I wouldn’t lol they’ve had their day and now I get mine. Only one of MOH will be married when I get married but still it’s a hard no for me.

I was the only one married at the time of our wedding, but I still wouldn't like this. There are so many different colors of wedding dresses now that I doubt it would be cohesive. Mine was ivory and moscato (blush), my friend's was ivory, my other friend's is white, and I know of other girls who have champagne or blush colored dresses. Plus, sometimes people lose/gain weight after the wedding and aren't able to fit into their dress anymore. I feel like this is nice in theory but difficult to pull off.

I'm thinking of having an anniversary ball where I will invite all of my female friends to wear white and my married friends can wear their wedding dresses.

Your wedding is a few months away. Is it too late to ask your bridesmaids?

I wouldn't want that for sure! Don't get me wrong, it's a very sweet idea but I would prefer to be in the spotlight on my wedding day haha.

I like the first one, the others remind me of prom dresses.
