Would You Decline a Marriage Proposal If You Didn't Like The Ring?

The Bride, on July 29, 2019 at 6:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 46
I've read several articles claiming that most women actually don't like their engagement rings and would pick a different one if they could.

Do you like your engagement ring? Why or why not? Would you decline a marriage proposal if you didn't like the ring? Why or why not?

I love my engagement ring! Even if I didn't like the ring, I wouldn't have rejected FH's proposal. The ring isn't important compared to marrying my honey!

I agree with you. My husband picked the perfect ring for me. Even if he didn't, I would have accepted his proposal and then we would have exchanged the ring for a better one, lol.

I wouldn't decline over the ring, but if they bought me a ring I hated it'd certainly be a topic of discussion on what made him pick it.
My grandmother left me her ring when she passed and I told my fiance Id rather have an heirloom engagement ring than a new one. So that's what I have.

I got to choose my ring. I wouldn't decline it anyway even if I didn't choose it. I have a friend who made changes to her engagement ring after she got proposed to

I love my ring so much, but I also helped pick it out. The band was one of about 3 I sent him after he asked me to send ideas. We both agreed that I needed to love a ring I was going to wear so often. I wouldn't have declined his proposal, but I also know he knows me well enough to have gotten me something I would have liked regardless.

It's becoming really common for women to choose their engagement rings.

That's one way to look at it. I guess it could also show that two aren't really in sync with one another.

I trusted that my husband knew what I liked. He showed it to my best friend beforehand and she called to reassure me that I would love it Smiley laugh

I've read many many stories about that. Some entitled women complaining it isnt big enough and how dare the guy insult her with such a tiny ring when it was all his savings....

That said, I absolutely would not decline. I love my ring to the ends of the earth. He could have proposed with a clump of dirt and I would have said yes!

I love my ring. I had told my finance that I wanted an emerald and didn't like diamonds and then he asked me some general preference questions. So he was able to pick out something he'd knew I liked without me picking it out specifically.
But I definitely still would have said yes anyways because wouldn't you? I've read before that if you have a problem with the ring....it's not really the ring that's the problem

He proposed without a ring and I accepted. We picked the ring together but that was a few months after already being engaged. I think we had a wedding date and venue before I had a ring. It wasn’t that important to me. I would be marrying him with a ring pop on my finger if that was what he gave me.

I picked my engagement ring. We were at the mall and he ask me to go into a jewelry store with him. He talked to one of the representatives about getting me an engagement ring. Once he had talked to the representative he said pick out your ring and I did. My ring is a set. If he had picked out my ring by himself I would have been happy.

We chose not to have engagement rings at all. We still ended up married.

I’m marrying my fiancée, not my engagement ring. I would say yes regardless!

We both looked at rings a lot beforehand so she could get an idea of what I liked when we eventually got married. If she ended up getting something I didn’t like at all, then it definitely would have been weird, but in the end we would’ve talked about it and figured out a solution. (It turns out she was more or less prepared for this and wasn’t sure if I would like the cut, it’s cubic zirconia for now so when I upgrade to a diamond later, I could change it if it didn’t like it)

That's a very unique engagement ring.
