Would You Be Okay If Your Husband Had a Vasectomy?

The Bride, on August 7, 2019 at 8:49 AM

I have heard many stories of men wanting to get a vasectomy despite their wives disagreement. Would you be okay if your husband had a vasectomy? Why or why not? If your husband insisted on getting a vasectomy despite your disagreement how would you handle that?

My first husband and I decided we were done at two kids; I had a tubal after my c section. No regrets. Had I not had a tubal, he would have gotten his lines tied. My current hubby was going to have his wings clipped at age 40 as he had never married, had no kids and did not want a surprise baby at age 45, lol.

So no, I would have been encouraging him to do so AFTER we had our kids. If he had been dead set on stopping at one, I would have respected that, as I never wanted to pressure him to have a second one.

The whole being pregnant, I feel like I would be a total pain the whole time and then the birth! I have such a low pain tolerance. My fiancé finally realized how low it was when I got my iud put in. I basically don’t have a pain tolerance.

I would also want my husband to wait until after we had kids if he were going to get a vasectomy.

I so have a fear of pregnancy. Especially the thought of going to the doctor's all of the time and giving blood. But the thought of giving birth is what really kills me. I'm building up my strength so that hopefully I can have children in the next few years.

That’s me! I have the fear of pregnancy! I don’t mind too much of the doctor visits but the needles and the birth freaks me out. My mother in law says I will be fine and it won’t hurt but I don’t think she understands how much it freaks me out and plus she always wanted to be a mom. I don’t mind being a mom but I don’t dream about it.

Yes, the sooner the better. He’s scheduled for one in a few months. I got sterilized two months after we married but we still hear horror stories of unplanned pregnancies so we are both going for it.

    At this point?
Likely, but not for quite some time. We would like to try to have kids.

Good for you for being so firm and proactive. Waaaaay too many people play fast and loose with birth control - I was like "Sterilization, Line 1!"

Believe it or not I had a doctor demand I take a pregnancy test.......at age 51!! I had a tubal, had gone through menopause and had a "lively" intimate life with my fiance. I was like, dude, really? It came back negative, obviously.

Thanks we want to any unwanted fetuses. I believe anything when it comes to women’s health rn. I had to see seven doctors until I could find one that would perform a sterilization on a childfree woman under 30. They acted like I was a teenager and one even asked to speak with my husband. I had to wait until I moved to a large city to get anyone to take me seriously.

Im glad things worked out for you though!

HECK yes. This is also because I have two children from my previous marriage, FH is on the fence about having any kids of his own and if we don't have any children of our own we will be free to do literally anything we want in 8 years when my kids are grown.
