Would Videography Be Worth It For a Brunch Wedding?

Kylee, on October 19, 2020 at 2:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So our wedding is 2 years away, but considering October is a very popular month to get married and with Covid postponing weddings to 2022 and even 2023, we want to make a decision now about photography and videography. We, of course, want photography, and I personally wanted videography from the start of our engagement, but since our wedding is a brunch wedding (which is more relaxing and not a huge party), I'm starting to question if we really do need it.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a video of our wedding to look back on, but since there isn't going to be a bunch of dancing (besides with me and my FH and our parents), and since our guest list is pretty small, I just can't decide if we should spend a bunch of money on a videographer. What are your thoughts? Would you still have a videographer for a small, intimate brunch wedding? Thank you in advance!

The time of day and guest count are irrelevant. If you want video then go for it.

I wouldn't just because you'll already have a photographer there to document the day. I personally don't suggest getting one unless you know you'll get your money's worth from it. Is it something that you'll watch more than once or twice, and can justify the money spent on it? BUT if you've been wanting a video and want that other memento, then go for it, it really doesn't matter on the location or guest count.

I think a videographer anytime of day is a great idea! We just put a deposit down for ours.

It's totally your call! We decided not to have videography for our big fancy evening wedding, because we didn't think it was necessary (we certainly had the budget for it but it was a personal choice). We did have our DOC use a go-pro to capture our ceremony, first dance, and speeches, so that would be an option if you want some sort of video but don't want to put thousands into professional videography.

If you have room in your budget go for it! We diddn't so we had a family member film our ceremony.

I totally think you should do it! While yes, your day may be shorter and you have a smaller guest count, intimate weddings make for beautiful films. Plus, the parts that you'll want to look back on are what you're still having -- ceremony, first looks (if you're having that), toasts. Those all would make a great video!

For sure get the video! We just received our micro wedding highlight video back. We love it! I had already forgotten some minor details (even though we literally just had the wedding lol) and I was so grateful to relive everything again and again!

It's totally up to you. I don't think a brunch wedding makes it any less special than a dinner wedding.

The time of day or formality of your wedding does not really have anything to do with you decision to have a videographer. I would highly recommend hiring one. Our videos from our wedding are by far my favorite things. Though we love our photos, having a full video of our ceremony, as well as the other special events is really special!
