would it be funny if I try on my dress AGAIN at the store to try on veils?

Jennifer, on November 18, 2010 at 4:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I cannot decide if I want a veil or not with my dress and I dont want to take the risk of buying one and then end up hating it. I bought my dress from DB....do you think they would be all pissy if I make an appointment to bring in my dress to exclusively try on veils?

here is a pic of my dress. Wedding will be an outdoor garden wedding.

They shouldn't be pissy about it. You bought your dress there and you're trying to decide on a veil Smiley smile

Thats what I thought.....but I dont want to be thought of as one of those pushy brides who take up their time to try on veils that I will most likely not buy there. :-)

I work in retail, and I'm sorry, but it's just the chance you take. Customers bring things in to my store to match and what not. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But if you have a good experience, you'll tell your friends about it. I hate how pushy a lot of bridal stores on. I got annoyed with the DB here. I live 3 hours away from my mom, and of course I was excited to be engaged. They weren't busy anyways, and I wanted to try on different styles. I would NEVER buy a dress without my mom being there. But I also wanted to see what *I* liked without another person's influence. Working in retail, I don't care if someone walks out without buying a thing, but I want them to have a good experience.

Do it! 4/5 bridesmaids do not live in the same city as me so each time one visits we go to the bridal store for them to pick their dress and of course I try mine on for them..... every time Smiley smile

How are you going to know which veil looks best if you don't try it on with your dress? Veils are like 1/10 of your dress budget, meaning they are expensive as hell. There's no way I would even think about investing that kind of money in a veil, only to find out it looks terrible with your dress, and you can't exchange it or get a refund.

Nope! I did it on Monday to try on viels and hair accesories. But thankfully the store was not busy!

@Jennhutch...I love to read when someone in retail is not rude, and is actually helpful. Perhaps it is because we are in the city, or whatever, but unless you are going to a pricey boutique on the Main Line, we rarely get good customer service. I won't do business with DB because of that.

@Jennifer....Of course you would bring your dress, otherwise wouldn't know if they match. When I was going to buy my dress, the gal I spoke to via phone from the place I bought from over the internet, told me DB makes sure their ivorys are the same, and lingerie is made to fit their dresses. It is a good racket, imho.

I don't think there should be any issue whatsoever with you making another appointment to try veils with your dress on. I've taken my brides to do that many times in the past. Sometimes there are intricacies such as beading placement, veil length etc that you may not notice unless you try the veil on with the gown, or unless you have a stylist select one for you.

I'm thinking shame on the store for not showing you veils and having you try them with the dress when you were there picking out the dress! I would definitely go in with the dress to try them out (and if they give you a hard time I would ask why they didn't show them to you before!)

I'm hopefully borrowing a veil & headpiece from FH's cousin's wife (as long as it goes with the dress) so I'll be bringing that with me when I do start dress shopping.

I am going to try mine on again when I take my FG to look for dresses. I know I want a llonger viel than what I tried on. I also want to show my dress off to her and her big sister who have not seen my dress.
