Worst Wedding Mistakes?

Maddie, on September 30, 2019 at 9:32 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 8

Just thinking about some of the mistakes we made getting ready for the wedding and I was wondering what blunders you all made. Here's the worst one for me - right before the bridal shower, my husband thought it would be nice to schedule a spa appointment for me and the bridesmaids. We were going to relax at the spa for about an hour and a half and then go straight to the country club where friends and family would be waiting for us. I thought we were gonna get mannie-peddies and maybe a nice massage, but hubby had other ideas. When we got there we were all sat down and told to sit back and relax. I closed my eyes and she started pouring cleanser on my face and taking my makeup off. I told her that we had important plans right afterwards so we needed our makeup, but she said that everything would be taken care of. I assumed that she meant we were getting makeup after the treatment so we let her continue doing her thing. Fast forward to the end of the facial, she gives me a mirror and says, you like? I asked her about doing our makeup since it was getting really late and she said they didn't offer makeup 😬 At this point we didn't have any time to fix our faces and the only makeup we had with us was some mascara my friend used when she had pink eye. In the ride to the shower we all looked in the mirror trying to look presentable and fix our set hair. My skin actually looked pretty good but that didn't make up for the bare eyebrows and colorless lips. When we got there just about everyone I knew was there in full makeup. I sat down next to my hubby and the first thing he says is "honey, did you take your makeup off?" I explained what happened and he laughed. I'm the kind of girl who is only goes barefaced when I'm sick or going to bed so seeing me in my heels and party dress with a pale ass morning face was somehow funny to him. But yeah, please excuse now long this post was. I really was expecting this to be shorter. What was your wedding mistake?

So far my only mistake has been ordering a veil I ultimately did want in the first place. Thankfully it was only $15 but still....

I missed placed my earrings and necklace so my bridesmaids and mom looked for them for about 45 minutes until they found them. As a result, we didn't get as many getting ready photos as I would have liked.

I misplaced these table covers I literally just bought aha til this day I still don't know where they went. I had to rebuy them. It was disposable dollar tree ones so it wasn't expensive at least. Bridal brain.

Agreeing to have my Dad’s friend cater our wedding reception. Long story short the caterer thought it was the 8/11/19 when our wedding was on the 8/10/19. Nothing was prepared and I was devastated. The guests were really cool about it and some even pitched in to buy some finger foods and drink. The caterer did eventually scramble some things together (KFC) and we got half of the money back. Still a little pissed about the situation. Maybe in 10 years I’ll look back and laugh about it? 🤷🏿‍♀️

DH had moved something that I needed the week of and I didn’t find it until 9/28/19 (a whole week after the Wedding).

Agreeing to go to a weekend-long precana.

I had 2 panic attacks, hated every minute of it, was traumatized by the whole experience... and then, 2 months later, the priest (after not really talking to us at all), said no, anyway.

Which I predicted LONG before DH proposed, but I could have done without the stress of figuring out the ceremony 3 1/2 months before the wedding.

Oh, DH also didn’t 🖨the Floor plan that I had made. Then, the directions for how to set up the tables were not followed.

What is the purpose of typing out how it should look if no one bothers to look at it?!

My biggest mistake is not sticking to our original plan of a courthouse wedding. I decided to do a traditional church one instead and it's been one heck of a ride Smiley laugh
