I already know what the worst gift I'm going to receive is. My best friend's mother told me she always gets Christmas ornaments as wedding gifts. I'm Jewish, although FH isn't. They better be made out of Swarovski crystal!

DS- "is that DNA??"

Me- "i think they're worms!"

DS- "does it come off?"

Me- "NO! Please God let there be a gift receipt!"

DS- "I'll take you tomorrow to return that isht. That came from YOUR family right?"

Me- *sigh* "yes".

A can of nuts for Christmas from my grandma - not the one we're close to, obviously.

My mother gave me paper doilies (doy-a-lies... I can't spell) for Christmas last year. "Maybe you can use them in your classroom?"

I have this one cousin who has issues with me, only God knows why. But she always gets me VERY shitty gifts, like she's notorious for it in my family. The last few I can remember were an already-worn pair of high heels, A tank top from Old Navy that came with a gift receipt, it looked like a trash bad with a hole for your head and arms so I returned it and got a whopping $1.99 back, and most recently she bought me this powder blue sweater that my grandma wouldn't even wear because it was so grandma-ish. Did I mention she has loads of money and always gets my siblings expensive gifts? sheesh... I had always thought we had a good relationship and only noticed her uncalled for resentment towards me the past few years, but my mom said she's always been jealous, I just didn't notice. Oh well. lol

I think our worst wedding gift was a set of hot pink towels and washcloths. They came from a lady at DH's old church, were obviously from Wal-Mart, but the tags had been cut off so we couldn't exchange them for non-hot pink towels (although, everyone decided towels were a great gift, so it's not like we needed anymore anyway). We use them to mop up dog pee.

This post reminds me of the bride a long time ago who got a HUGE iguana sculpture from a relative for a wedding gift! There is a big long post about it, I'll see if I can find it.

A leather watch from my soon to be ex-BIL. I'm a vegetarian. It's a nice watch and I keep meaning to find it so I can sell it on eBay (it's Roxy, I packed it up when I moved), but not my style.

When I turned 15, my aunt sent me this plush make your own guardian angel kit. You have to like put a wooden head on it, glue on hair, and draw a face. At 15. No thanks.

I know you asked for wedding/shower gifts, but I have to share this: My EX-boyfriend, for Christmas one year, gave me an unwrapped book with the explanation that he wanted to get me a Sirius satellite radio (which I have never wanted), but after he bought it and took it home he realized he would have to pay a subscription fee (mind you he told me this while describing how awesome it "would have been" to have one). So he decided to take the radio back and got me this book -- which was the third in a series because he thought I would like it better. Um... wha?? Thank god he's my ex.

My great aunt got me a gold vinyl-ish coat, with plush leopard lining. i was in 5th grade, and very much a tomboy. i had NO CLUE what to do with it. needless to say, goodwill received a very bright, shiny, and squeaky donation that year!

My worst gift was a Barbie. I never played or like Barbie as a kid and people knew not to get me one but I finally got my first one as a gift from a lady at my church for xmas. And I was 19!!!! Dunno why she thought I'd want one at 19.

My worst was definitely the hand made bride and groom pot holders.

I got some 'handmade' plates that make Analy's glasses look like couture glass ware.

I've never gotten anything crazy, but one of my teacher friends at my old school always got the most inappropriate gifts from students. One year she got a hoodie with a rhinestone playboy bunny. The next year, get this, she got a red lace thong with a heart-shaped cutout on the crotch!! I kid you not! From a pre-schooler. I'm assuming dad had the hots for her.
