Worried that no one will dance?

Well the new trend is to hire people for "Crazy hour", which is basically getting a group of dancers to get your party going! Usually they come in after dinner, after the cake, once it is time to start dancing. They come in with crazy costumes, party favors, crazy hats, lights, confetti and just start dancing and getting people on the dance floor. I've been to 5 weddings with in 2 years, and 4 of them had 'Crazy Hour/Hora Loca", it was so much FUN!! I highly recommend it!

I'm having a small wedding AND my family are NOT dancers. I'm saving the $ and just having ipod music in the background.

I had the same fears but read somewhere that if the couple stays on the dance floor it pulls people out of their seats. And it worked! Even my parents were in the dance floor. Free booze helped too.

I'm worried about dancing too, but that's because a good portion of our guests are Southern Baptists. Southern Baptists, do not dance. And I don't see our older relatives dancing either...hopefully our bridal party and friends will get it started, and who knows? Maybe people will surprise me.

One thing I've learned as a wedding guest is that I celebrate to the extent that the bride and groom do.

So, ladies, put on a huge smile, get out on the floor in that gorgeous dress and start expressing your love bliss via some hip-shaking and child-like twirls. Your loved ones won't be able to resist the urge to join you. I can't wait to get down to Que Ondo Guero, Hips Don't Lie, Shake Your Pom Poms, etc. What will be the number that makes you shake it?

If you have a good DJ he/she should be able to read the crowd and have a good list of songs people will dance to. A lot of people go to weddings to cut loose and dance, so there will always be SOMEONE dancing.

P.S the key is for you to dance at least some of the time. Very few people want to upstage the bride, if you dance its more likely your guests will

Make sure it is not too bright on the dance floor lol. I hate dancing when you have overhead fluorescent lights on.

Also if you and the groom are out there having fun people will follow your lead.

Seems to me, most guests follow the B&G's lead-- if they're up and dancing, the guests will be out dancing. If they suddenly leave the floor, people suddenly become self-concious and leave, too. Also, playing the occasional now-hated-but-everyone-looks-goofy-dance, like the HOkey Pokey, Macarena, keep people on the floor-- everyone can dance those!

I'm scared of it too- so to avoid that we're most likely skipping the dancing. FH and I are not dancers, I don't think we've ever even danced in front of each other. Hoping the wedding planner can help figure out fun stuff to do instead...

Thanks ladies! I am a dancer (obviously, I get that from by "sprinkler dad", who is AWESOME by the way), and my FH is when he has had a drink or two. Hopefully other people will follow suit!
