Worried about muddy venue grounds

Kelsey, on March 28, 2017 at 12:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

I'm getting married next Saturday in Harrisonburg,Va and i've been checking the weather everyday...it's looking like it's going to rain (like 4 days in a row). I know it could change *fingers crossed* and the ceremony can easily be moved inside but i'm worried about pictures! We are doing a first look as well as photos during cocktail hour and i'm worried about my dress getting muddy or dirty before the ceremony since outside is really the only place to take photos. There may be another post somewhere about this but i haven't been on in a while, and I'm just wondering what other people have done in this situation? I'll have umbrellas on hand but that doesn't keep my dress from getting gross before the ceremony!

I'm so sorry but it's one of those things you literally can't do anything about! Pray for the best, prepare for the worst! Good luck Smiley smile

Where do you plan to take pictures if it's pouring rain outside?

Is there anywhere inside where you can take pictures? Or any non-dirt/grass surface outside - patio, porch, driveway, paved area? You'll want to do some extra scouting!

Just be extra careful with your dress! We had to move all of our pictures inside, but I still had to be outside for a few feet to get from the shuttle to the church doors, I just hiked that dress up so it didn't touch the ground Smiley smile

Yeah i think that's the main issue... if the ceremony gets moved inside, thats also where cocktail hour and the reception would take place so it's hard to have space to do the photos if extra people are around. There is a stone room under the barn that would work but when you pay so much money for photos, you don't want the same background for all of them! Lots to think about!

Can you look for an off-site location for your first look photos? Maybe a nearby museum or a fancy hotel?

I grew up in Staunton. Had to giggle at the museum/ fancy hotel suggestion of CB. Where is your venue? What about doing photos on the JMU campus. There are some beautiful porches/stairways that are outside but not on the grass.

@Anne Cross Keys Barn! The campus idea would be great if we weren't Hokies LOL. Virginia weather is always all over the place so I'm hoping, like today, that it rains in the morning and is nice in the evening!
