Wording on the invitations

Lydia, on June 25, 2019 at 11:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hey, y'all! My fiance and I agreed on an invitation (yay!), and now we're designing them before ordering (also yay!). While it's been fun, I've hit a brick wall with something about them.

I've seen some invitations say "we request the pleasure of your company" or "your presence is requested," ya know what I mean? I love that a lot, but with the way our invitations are, it makes everything look busy and seems cramped. Is that a necessity for wedding invitations, or a shorter way of doing this than just putting our names?

Since it's a book-themed wedding, we put a cute quote at the top of the invite that resembles our relationship. After that is *my name* and *his name*, and then the rest of the information is below all that.

Thanks for any replies that follow! I'm a perfectionist, so I've changed my mind multiple times and can't seem to get it right, lol. I'm also stuck on these two colors for the invites themselves, but that's something for another day.

Can you post a screenshot? That may make it easier to give some other suggestions.

Just added them to the post for ya! Smiley smile Sorry for how small the picture is, I zoomed farther away to get the entire invite in there.

    Hi there Lydia!

Your invites are turning out great, love the design! Well done Smiley smile

If you want to leave out these lines altogether, you can totally do that. Something as simple as “Lydia and XX are getting married!” works!

This WeddingWire article is really helpful! It will definitely come in useful creating your invites - Wedding Invitation Wording: Decoded!.

What are you designing the invites on?

I think they both look great but the first color is my fav! I’m not able to zoom in and read the entire thing but I think it’s totally fine to leave out the extra wording. I’m sure no one will wonder why it’s not there and just be impressed by your choice of invite and happy they got one!

It seems small, but an invitation doesn’t really make sense without saving “you’re invited” somehow. Otherwise it’s just a card with information about your wedding. You have to be selective when designing your invites, especially all in one invites with limited space, and only include the necessities. The quote isn’t a necessity, letting your guests know they’re invited is.
