Won a free Mary Kay pampering session

I signed up for a raffle at Davids bridal when we went for bridesmaids dresses and they called me today and said I won! I was planning on inviting the allowed 6 guests but my mom is not into it saying they're just going to pressure you to buy the entire time. Is this a scam to just try and sell me?...

Is this a scam to just try and sell me? Has anyone one else won?

    It's a scam. I had the girl

Tell me it was free and then when I told her I wasn't interest in the make over even though it was free she responded by saying it wasn't a free make over.

I've been to these Mary Kay things a couple of times. They want you to buy, and also suggest you throw your own make over party where they could get more sells. It's okay as long as you stand your ground. I only bought a few small things. Their product is pretty good but can get pricey.

I've had a Mary Kay sales lady call me for over 2 years so they can get pushy.

Scam! Don't do it! I did my pampering session and then was promptly "recruited" to join the pink club.... so I did some research and asked around and found out it's a scam.

I won a pampering session last February and my girls and I had an AWESOME time! They tell you about their products, and match you up with your perfect shade and let you try some of the products while showing you how to properly apply it and all. They do give you an option of buying but do not pressure you at all. A couple of my girls bought, a couple didn't. We had a wonderful experience and such great bonding time. You also have a chance to win free products!

Run run run!!! The last wedding I was in the bride won this, we had it at my house and the pressure was on. She brought out all these amazing products and barely did anything to any of us, we tried the lip scrub and hand moisturizer set. Then pulled this little tiny bag out and said that was what the bride won, then pulled this giant bag out and said "but your lucky friend could leave today with all of this if you all make a purchase of $100 or more!" Then looked at all of us like were so assholes if we didn't "help" our friend! I did not purchase, noone was forcing me into spending that kind of money. She tried to continue but thank god my friend has a backbone and said "i didnt realize this was going to be a pressure to buy pitch, you can leave now thankyou!" The girl still blew my phone up for months after that trying to book a party

It's just a sales event. I've gotten a couple of these emails since going to David's Bridal. Those Mary Kay ladies are pretty linked in.

That's exactly what they do. The one I went to was called a pampering session but it was really a sales pitch and to try some of the products. ..you even try everythig yourself Noone helps you do it.

Also I went over a year ago and the woman still calls me! I had to add her number to the auto reject list on my phone

They are the worst! They just try to sell you a bunch of crazy priced stuff and they really pressure you. Plus it's not even "pampering."

Do it if you are interested in purchasing Mary Kay products otherwise don't it's a waste of time. These people are not makeup artists and I don't believe they are actually allowed to put make up on you.

    Their stuff isn't bad though!

Exactly what Melissa said. I haaaaaaaaaate all personal party/in-home sales things (except Tastefully Simple! haha). I got a text message months ago that my friend "gifted" me a pampering session and I could invite friends. Gullible me was excited. Only my MIL could come (no big deal, I love her, but figured I'd look silly for not having friends to have at a party, haha). A little before the party did I have a feeling this wasn't a "gift" and it was really a set-up for a Mary Kay party. Yep. I'm usually not one to buy things out of guilt at parties like this, but I felt bad this lady traveled an hour and a half to my house to "pamper" just two people. My MIL and I bought a couple things. Which I have yet to use, argh :-(

It's a "scam" to an extent - it's not just a pampering session... It's their way of tricking you into having a party. In a way, it's the "best" (tricks people the most) sales pitch I've been "scammed" into.

Mary Kay is a multi level marketing company. So yes, the "pampering session" is "free", but it is only a ploy to get you to buy product, have a party, or sign up to sell. Consultants are desperate to get rid of their product, so they will call, text, and email nonstop to try and get some money out of you. When they offer you "free product", it is based on how much $$ you can get your friends to spend.

For the posters who like the product, you can find just about any product on Ebay - brand new and recently front loaded onto unsuspecting new consultants - for about half price.

Out of curiosity, what would you rather the raffle say? How many times is a good amount to try to help someone? I am asking to make my business more successful and not have people talk about me like I have read in this feed...your help is greatly appreciated!

All people in "sales" get leads in different ways and "facial boxes" is one such way. All Mary Kay ladies aren't pushy and out to get ladies.

I am a consultant and offer the free beauty experiences (is what I call them). I am a single mom and because of Mary Kay I have been able to give my children all the opportunities of a dual income household.
