With this ring... Alternative ring bearer pillow ideas!

Aleykit*, on April 4, 2014 at 12:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

For anyone wanting to nix the traditional ring bearer pillow idea, here are some cool ideas. We are doing a ring box instead of using a pillow.

@Rigby - I saw that rose ring box before! I really like it. ... we're not having a ring bearer or flower girl so I need to try and figure out how I can include that in the ceremony. lol

We did a box. I bought a super cheap one at the dollar store. DH stained it dark and my MOH's mom made the little cushion inside and did the decorations. In total it cost us less then $10. Below is a pic of it.

My son is going to be our "Ring Security" so he will be carrying a small brief case. Sorry I don't have a picture of it.

We are doing a small ring box also. My 11 year old (who is our RB) picked it out. i've already painted it red, but now thinking it needs to be a brighter red. I'm going to use some of the taffetta from the hem of my dress to line it. He also picked out two little flowers for the top...he thinks they look like eyes and that it makes the box look like a monstor...lol, it doesn't to me & he's happy so that works for me!!

My FH bought me a huge teddy bear that is about 4ft tall for valentines day. He sits on our stairs in our house and everyone in the family jokes about Sir Biggles. lol We are using that as the ring bearer. We may get my niece and his nephew to bring him down in a wagon or something because he is huge.

Following this! I don't want a pillow and I liked the box idea, my very opinionated ring bearer (8 yr old nephew) hates the box idea. I want him to feel involved so we're trying to come up with something we both like together Smiley smile

Oh I love the idea of hiding the rose in the bouquet. Hmmmm now I'm thinking.

We're sliding them on a ribbon and tucking the ribbon ends into a cool hardcover book. Smiley smile

We are doing a box but I'm nervous to let our 5yr old ring bearer carry the actual rings. Is anyone giving them their real rings? We are getting married outside and I'm afraid they could easily get lost.

Yeah, our rings will be inside of the box. My ring bearer is 9 though. Maybe you can have someone help the 5 year old down the aisle to make sure he doesn't drop the ring.

We like tea, so we were going to have my nephew walk down with the rings resting on top of some fragrant tea leaves in a small tea cup (sounds slightly complicated now that I write it out), but I think he might pour everything out once he realizes he can. I don't want the traditional pillow, though.

We used my kids' football that my youngest son carried with him as he escorted me. The rings were secured to the ribbon with caribeeners. My oldest son was egging him on for the long pass, but they both knew momma would have freaked. After the ceremony it was play ball.

For my beach weddings, if the couple didn't bring anything else, I put the rings into a beautiful seashell.

I don't recommend giving the real rings to a young child. Fake rings can be substituted and the BM can hold the real rings.
