Winter Wonderland theme in the Spring or Summer...???

mrsTJL, on July 19, 2010 at 11:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

Hubby and I have been thinking about changing our wedding date from the Winter to either Spring or Summer but we wanted to keep our same wedding theme Winter Wonderland. I desperately want to have our reception on a boat or at our beach house but in the winter it's going to be too cold to be on the water. Hubby really wants to have our ceremony at our church in Ft. Washington so if we do that we'll most likely have our reception on a boat at the National Harbor which is not too far from our church but I've been thinking bout having both the reception and ceremony at our beach house. My only question is can we still keep our Winter Wonderland theme? WHacha think?

His Mrs P nailed it...the theme will be much more dramatic in the summer! As soon as they put the Christmas stuff on sale...go crazy! Get everything you need at a fraction of what you would've normally paid Smiley smile

You can...but I think if you do, you have to do it up a bit bigger than you might have in actual winter.

i.e. if you just inlcude elements here and there, people might get confused...but if you really make it so there is winter stuff all over and the theme carries throughout every aspect, then it could work.

So when you say winter wonderland what do you envision? I'm sure some of the materials you need will be on sale around that time including fake snow or snow flakes or white lights but I could be missing the vision. What do you have in mind?

I think it's even better in the summer, than in winter! It will make everyone feel like they're stepping into another world; a Winter Wonderland! I love it!!!

    Definitely do-able!

I was thinking fake snow, snow flakes, white lights, beaded snowflake ornaments, a couple gift boxes but not so much that ppl think santa just left, crystal waterfalls, white, blue and brown candles (more white and blue than brown)... ice sculptures, etc... nothing red or green, no santa stuff, nothing cheesy (if you know what I mean... I want to be a winter princess not Santa's daughter getting married)

Another thing I was going with chocolate colored dressed with pool colored sashes but I now think since we're doing a summer or spring wedding to go with pool colored dresses with chocolate sashes

attached is a photo so you'll get the color idea

@ DreamComeTrue... thank you so much. Hubby and I are both super happy. I just needed someone on the outside to run my ideaoff of because in my head it looks GREAT I'm just hoping I can pull it off.

Oh yeah you can deff pull it off Id just be really dramatic about it! IMHO (and its strictly an opinion) Im not sure that the color pool will go well with the winter theme. I think the pool may be more summerish. KWIM?

Are your colors blue and brown? If these are the colors you love I dont think you should change them but what about reversing them? Maybe making the brown prominent and the blue an accent color? Im just thinking youll want the theme to be continuous from the venue to the clothing etc..What do you think?

Anything in the pale shades that doesn't have any yellow or oranges or reds... go with really pale blues and silvers and greens. Basically, look at a color and think "Does that make me feel cold? or does that make me feel like it's hot out?" and then go with the one that just makes you feel like if you touched it, it would be cold.

That was my 1st idea to go with the brown dresses and blue sashes but since it's going to be hot I didn't want the girls to be hot IDK I'll figure something out. We're going to have brown, blue & white chairs and table settings.

    i'll attach photos
