We had a winter wedding in Southern California and here are my thoughts:

Pros:- off season so our F&B minimums we’re lower (though we would have hit the minimum for peak season anyway)- it wasn’t too hot. Our venue was mainly outdoors so if it were 85+ degrees, it would have been so hot for our guests, we would have been sweating with all the makeup we had on, our cake probably would have started melting (happened at one of my best friends wedding in June!)- half our guests were coming from the Midwest/east coast so for them, our wedding was a perfect excuse to escape the snow at home
Cons:- colder weather = heater rentals. I chanced it and it actually was around mid-70s for our wedding. Plus the overhang for our reception site had built in heaters- it rained all morning up until an hour before our ceremony. Our ceremony was supposed to be in an uncovered outdoors space and they had to move everything to the adjacent outdoor covered space for my reception. It turned out fine, but my vendor teams were scrambling.

My wedding is December 12th!! We love Christmas, so for decor we are using a lot of our own decorations and our families. It’ll be nice because depending on what venue you pick, it will be already decorated and not much work for you to do!! Smiley smile

I almost went with a winter wedding date. Everything is cheaper, and depending on the time of the year the decorating may be minimal because of Christmas. There’s just something magical about Christmas to me so I loved the idea of having those decorations out. The cons of it can be that it will most definitely be colder (I consider that a pro though, less sweating!) and there may be inclement weather that people aren’t willing to travel in. Another thing we found is that a lot of the venues at least around here wouldn’t allow us to use any outdoor space at all, wouldn’t even show it to us. We wanted a few photos outside so that was a turn off for us. I love winter weddings though, they’re so beautiful!

I love winter weddings! I'm in Northern Minnesota and have always loved the idea of a snowy winter wedding. I would be having one if my fiance didn't hate the cold and snow so much 😂

Where i'm from, winter isn't that cold anyway but i would say there are definitely pros and cons. however if your venue is indoors i don't see a problem. winter weddings means you can go through many sales to get decor and stuff too.

We’re having a winter wedding (hopefully) this December. In Lake Tahoe.
We love the snow and the mountains and my fiancé hates being too hot especially during weddings.
I think the big pro is the pictures. I have seen so many pictures taken in the snow and love the romantic aspect of it.The con is how guests will handle it. We will have our ceremony outside but will have a lot of heaters. Still, that isn’t always the best for guests especially if you have older guests.

We live in Oregon so it’s kinda cold in the winter. but we both love winter. we found a venue on the Oregon Coast( Bandon area) it’s breath taking so we want to check that out as an option, but just wanted some feed back on winter weddings.
haven’t planned a lot of anything beside chucking out some venues but winter seems more us then any other time of year.

I love Bandon Oregon! I think it would be cold, so definitely rent heaters. Do they have any other dates available?
