Winter Wedding Reception Flip

Gabrielle, on October 18, 2020 at 8:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
My fiancé and I are getting married on December 18, 2021. Our ceremony and reception is at the same venue and it is a one room venue. Dows anyone have any ideas of what guests could do or where they could go while they are flipping it? We live in Ohio, so it will likely be too cold to go outside.

Without knowing your venue, it’s hard to tell. How much needs to be changed? Our guests stayed in the venue while things were moving around and it was no problem.

Do they have a separate area for cocktail hour? I know some of the venues we looked at that flipped the room for ceremony to reception had another to host cocktail hour. We ultimately didn't go with any of the venues that the room had to flipped because I didn't like the idea of flipping a room.

So it doesn’t sound like there’s any other option except for guests to stay in the venue while it’s flipped? Have you considered having everyone sit at their reception tables for the ceremony?

Have you asked your venue for ideas or what other couples have done there in the past?

I actually toured a venue this weekend who said that if we chose to have an indoor ceremony then the guest would sit at their tables except for the first few rows of important guest (parents and grandparents) that way when the "flip" does happen it really isn't that big of an event.

I would probably have guests sit at their tables for the ceremony itself, otherwise that seems like too much of a flip to occur while everyone is still in the room.

I agree with PP. Having the guest sit at their tables for the ceremony sounds like your best option.

Ask your venue staff. They should be in charge of this or at least give you options to choose from.

We had this same question! I talked it over with our coordinator at the venue and came up this plan so the only table we have to move is our sweet heart table!
