Winery Venue in Napa

Maddy, on January 21, 2018 at 10:36 PM Posted in California Planning 0 12
My fiancé and I are really wanting a venue at a winery in Napa, CA. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Most venues I find online are hotels or country clubs, but we are really looking for winery as we are from Iowa and want a unique venue for our destination!

Hey Maddy, no problem! This is a list of wineries in Napa from our vendor catalogue, and there are lots of them! You can filter this down even further with your guest list size, their availability, and what amenities they offer. I hope you find a great one!

You could also try Temecula Wine Country. It's southern California instead of Northern (closer to San Diego than LA) There's a ton of vineyards, basically all on the same road. We're in LA and that's where we're getting married. It's gorgeous there

There's so many wineries in Napa, it would be silly to list them all. I would look at the list someone else posted already. Napa is ridiculously expensive, especially for weddings. If you're a little open minded, I'd look at Sonoma County. It's a bit less expensive and it's just as beautiful (some would argue more beautiful). I personally love Ledson, but the architecture is hit or miss with people. Chataue St. Jean is stunning, although it might have burned down in our devastating wild fires back in October. St. Francis is another gorgeous one. In St. Helena, Charles Krug is incredible. You really can't go wrong with any winery in Sonoma/Napa, as long as you have the budget for it. Do check their websites to make sure they are still open after the fires (I'm sorry I can't remember who's been burned. Luckily, not as many burned as people think, though.)

    Good luck!

IronMaiden listed quite a few awesome wineries in Napa. I love Chateau St. John, great wines, lovely staff, and it's gorgeous. But yes, definitely check all the listed wineries to see if they're still open after the fires. It's such a tragedy for our wine country neighbors in Napa and Sonoma counties (I say neighbors since I only live a little bit over an hour away from Napa, which isn't that far. Smiley smile ).

If however, if you want a more small town feel that still has beautiful wineries and vineyards (no rolling hills though unfortunately, pretty flat)....might I suggest Lodi? Smiley smile A friend of mine got married at Mettler (one of the wineries in this area), during the springtime and it was gorgeous. We have a few wineries here in the Lodi and Lodi north (as I jokingly call the small town where I live) areas that can do beautiful wineries. There's also Oak Farm and Viaggio btw to name a couple others. Our area was able to accommodate a lot of the tourists who had to leave Napa and Sonoma counties during the fires.

In case you're curious, here's one of my engagement pictures taken at a Lodi winery (I took it from my wedding website since I'm on my phone). Unfortunately they don't do weddings at that winery (I used to work at that one), but the vineyard is amazing - even in the fall (we took these November 2017).

My brother and SIL got married at V. Sattui! I think there's only a handful of wineries that actually allow weddings at their sites. I go to Napa often and have to go to V. Sattui every time! The ceremony was in a courtyard covered in lights and the reception was in their barrel room! Honestly, it was so romantic and the pictures were stunning!

V Sattui made the top of my list; it’s located in St. Helena where it’s walking distance to a lot of wineries (and where some of the best wineries are located in Napa). I went to college there and was also planning on getting married there (the ONLY reason it became option 2 instead of 1 is that it doesn’t allow hard liquor like many wineries in Napa). But the venue is gorgeous... it’s large and the entire space is your’s. Another option is Livermore/Pleasanton (where I’m getting married); it’s also in Northern California (more Silicon Valley based) and within an hour from San Francisco... during distance to Napa... it’s almost like a mini Napa with plenty of vineyards and wineries (but for 75% of the cost... and they allow hard liquor at most). Check out Wente, Casa Real at Ruby Hill, and The Palm Event Center in the Vineyard (where I’ll be getting married). You can’t go wrong with Cali wineries but I also feel like Napa/northern Cali is more popular than Southern Cali for wine tasting.

Maddy, Napa is gorgeous but expensive for you & guests guests: pricey hotels, flight, rental car. We did a small wedding (15 guests) at amazing Calistoga Ranch (it is a resort though), then a local reception in Temecula (50 guests). FYI--vineyards aren't in bloom until June. High wedding season!

Favorite wineries for weddings in Sonoma: St Francis, Chateau St Jean and Gundlach Bundschu. Favs in Napa: Charles Krug and Brix (restaurant but in vineyards and yummy food/wine).

If you're willing to consider a resort, we LOVED our wedding at Calistoga Ranch. They have several spots for your ceremony and reception: vineyards, lake, lake patio, wine cave. Here are a few of our photos. Stellar staff and food. Treat yourself to a mini-moon in their 2-bedroom villa. Amazing.

Maddy, FYI vineyards aren't in bloom in Napa until June (maybe a few leaves in late May but depends on weather). July/Aug they're probably best.

But if you want the Napa experience at a deal, consider March (be prepared for possible rain). That may be the latest month for their "winter season rate" which is a lot cheaper. Or consider a weekday wedding if you want the lush vineyard view without breaking the bank. Smiley laugh

I suggest the Robledo Winery it's like a rustic/barn theme I don't know what your looking for but honestly is one of the well know winery in the area that is booked all year long. That's between sonoma and napa county. I also suggest the Jacuzzi Winery that's one of my favorites to be honest it looks very elegant yet very modern winery that makes it's such a stunning winery.

I am getting married at David Girard Winery with Wedgewood in Placerville, CA (near Sacramento). It is not in Napa, but about 2.5 hrs away, all inclusive, less expensive and just as gorgeous. Helps with the destination wedding planning.
