Why Is It a Bad Idea To See The Bride Before The Wedding Again?

The Bride, on July 22, 2019 at 6:50 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22
I've been told that it's a bad idea for the groom to see the bride before the wedding because it gives the couple a chance to change their mind about the wedding.

What is your understanding of why it is a bad idea to see the bride before the wedding?

Will your bride/groom see you before you walk down the aisle? Why or why not?

I've always just heard it sas bad luck or it takes away some of the nerves/excitement, which may or may not be a bad thing!

I've also always just heard it's bad luck but we chose to do so because a first look fit better for our logistics and schedule

I've heard so many superstitions on this! Well do a first look because it's easier and my caterer mentioned we can hide in the bridal suite and eat for part or all of cocktail hour. I love to eat so that appeals to me!

It just a tradition. It's "bad luck" to see each other before the wedding.

I think it's fun to build suspense by spending the night before the wedding apart.

So that way it's exciting waiting to see each other at the Altar.

I'm very traditional, and I'm spending the night before our wedding at a Hotel.
So we will see each other at the AltarSmiley smile

It’s just a superstition. We won’t be getting ready together, but we are doing a first look, so we will see each other before the ceremony.

I was super nervous walking down the aisle, I wonder if that would be different if my husband and I had seen each other before walking down the aisle.

My husband and I did a version of a first look but we didn't actually look at each other. We were in between a tree with our backs to each other holding hands. It made for beautiful pictures.

My entire wedding party and a few guests stayed at a hotel the night before the wedding. I stayed in my maid of honors room so we didn't see each other for a full 24 hours before the wedding.

I've heard it's "bad luck." But I also harken it back to a time when arranged marriages were a lot more common. This was among the many traditions that didn't matter much to me.

I had no idea this was connected to arranged marriages.

No one seems to know for certain, but it's a leading hypothesis behind it.

We're waiting until the ceremony, but the idea that it gives us a chance to change our minds has me 😂😭😂. This man has seen me hospitalized and looking like a truck hit me and reversed. And, we live together. So, if I'm gonna change my mind it would be when I've had my fill of finding dirty socks in random places or falling into the toilet seat - certainly not at the wedding with him all tuxed out.

Superstitions are silly when it comes to jinxing a marriage. Marriage has zero to do with luck and 100% to do with work and commitment to each other. We're only waiting because he likes surprises and I like messing with him.

It's bc of arranged marriages, they didn't want anyone backing out before the "I do's" if someone was ugly.
My FH really wants to stay apart the night before so it's more traditional and "special" when we see each other at the ceremony. I hate it. I don't sleep well without him and I don't want to be sleep deprived and grumpy on our wedding day. Lol

I've always heard it was bad luck, but I'm not superstitious. We spent the night together before the wedding and spent the first part of the morning together. We also did a first look. I have zero regrets. We loved getting to spend so much of our day together.
