Why do people feel they can have so much say in your wedding

Hey everyone,

Just needed somewhere to vent about the whole wedding planning experience. My wedding is in 6 months (yay) and while I am super excited about marrying the love of my life , this planning process has been so stressful. The planning itself hasn't been too crazy but the people in our lives trying to dictate our day has been irritating.

For one my small wedding has turned into a 200 count guest list, my mother inlaw has been very vocal about what traditions I NEED to follow, my mother has expressed her dislike of my taste in almost everything (dress, shoes, etc), my bridesmaids are being difficult about the dress I chose for them to wear (2 out of 8 hate the dress ), family members are upset I want a kid free wedding, and people in general upset they are not invited.

I honestly cant wait for the day to come and go so we can go on our honeymoon.

Hahaha when you figure that out, let me know! We've had our guest list hijacked, rude comments about the food we originally decided on, and complaints in the dress color I chose for my bridesmaids. People give their unwarranted opinions more often than not. It's irritating, I know!

For some reason, people like to act REALLY entitled when it comes to weddings. I'm sorry you're going through this! My entire office (50+ people) acts like they're expecting an invitation and that's definitely not happening. All you can do is stand your ground. Tell your mother and future mother in law to keep their opinions to themselves and stop discussing wedding plans with them. If the two bridesmaids you're having trouble with can't get over the dress, ask them if they'd prefer to attend as a guest. There's nothing wrong with a kid free wedding and you're not required to invite everyone on the planet. Deep breaths! This is YOUR day to marry the love of your life. It'll all be worth it the day of, we just have to tough it out until then

I would stop providing information to people. Keep things to yourself and you won’t have to deal with others opinions and when they ask be honest and say “because I don’t want to hear what everyone has to say”. Then take deep breathes and relax. Good luck.
