Why are you having a intimate wedding?

For me I wanted to have a intimate wedding because I wanted to be able to have time to spend with FH and loved ones, feel like it's more personal, and yes it helps a lot on the budget. My guest count is 65 max but I am considering to go down to 30. I don't have a venue yet but the one I have had my eyes on is a Italy inspired restaurant where I can do ceremony and reception.

We are inviting 75 max and we are getting married at the mansion at Timber Point on Long Island. We chose an intimate wedding because it's well, intimate lol. We both have relatively small families and I never understood brides who invited every acquaintance they ever had. We just want the people that are most important to us, that we speak to on a weekly basis to share this moment with us.

We have 26 guests invited. We wanted our closest family and friends there. I honestly don't understand why people invite so many people to their weddings. Like are you really close to 250 people??

The day flies by and I want to be able to take it in! I want to enjoy it!

We have both done the whole dog and pony show before and have no desire to repeat it. Also, I have like 900 cousins and don't want to spend $30k. Ideally, we would only have people who have been really supportive (and not the aunts who will roll their eyes like "good luck this time"), but at least we are able to keep obligatory invites to a minimum. Of course, we've been surprised at how many people actually say they're coming--we would have been happy with just my sister and his parents, but it's looking like it will be 25ish.

One of my fave weddings from last winter was a surprise wedding right after Christmas (the couple didn't tell people it was a wedding. They greeted everyone at the door (she was in a fab Jenny Packham style deco dress) and that's when the guests found out.

They had 40 people in a rustic country inn/restaurant that sells out on Sundays. Everyone was greeted with champagne for a half hour or so of gathering, then they all got together to do a group pix outside (it was weirdly 60 degrees), then came in for the ceremony in front of the fireplace. I did a beautiful ceremony with everyone sitting at their seats, then cocktails commenced, followed by dinner. The venue is a world class, constantly four star restaurant that is also a BYOB; they did wine, craft beer, champagne and a cocktail that I can't remember.

They had a very photojournalist photographer, with very few posed pix, a world class jazz pianist, and it was absolutely gorgeous. I would totally do that format for myself.

Were inviting 75 people and need at least 63 to attend to meet the food and beverage minimum. We're getting married at a beautiful hotel that had a great deal. Aside from the budget aspect of it, we both have small families and a small group of friends. We honestly couldn't think I'm 100 people to invite.

We are having 80 people for several reasons...

I'm moved here only 4 years ago and don't know too many people here.

We are on a budget as we are still in college

I rather spend the day with people that I love and love us back instead of inviting a bunch of hypocrites just to have a big event

The venue we choose look very intimate from the outside.

We have 13 months to go if only I hear one person who's on the guest list say something about my relationship, their name is out.

ETA: I'm glad we aren't getting married back home, it would be 500 guests minimum.

We're doing a small DW in Vegas. Like Mrs. CK, we're also getting married in a hotel suite at a resort/casino. We invited 55, and will have about 30-35 attend. All my family and my closest friends live in different states than me, so I'm really glad I'll get to spend quality time with each of them. That would be a lot harder to manage with a large guest list. We're also able to afford a better dinner/more alcohol with a smaller guest list, and are able to afford a better honeymoon too.

@Celia you didn't hijack the thread Smiley smile I always love your input and advice. I wish there was someone like you that knew of venues catering to people with under 100 guests in my area at the time cause I had to look for a while before I found a few.

FH and I are getting married in an upstairs private dining room at a historic New Orleans restaurant in the French Quarter. Only 18 guests were invited. It will be perfect for us. Our guests will be served a 4 course brunch following our ceremony. I am very happy that we planned an intimate wedding.

FH and I wanted a DW. So we are inviting no more than 40 people and hoping for 20. We both come from small families.

There is nothing intimate about 175 people.

Me and FH live 5000 miles from family and friends. They will not bother and travel. Have been here 3 years now and don't know much people. Also,I always dreamed about intimate wedding and we are not party people. So, 6 people at our wedding, just famiky, nice ceremony at the Catholic chruch and vinery reception. No dancing,no cake cutting,no bouquet or anything tradicional. Just the way we wanted! The things become more interesting here:if we are back home I would have large wedding with at least 300 people because it's tradition. So,perfect excuse Smiley smile

I invited 80 for our cruise wedding in January. We aren't showy people and this is more our style. Closest to eloping for us

We have 60. A big reason is because of funding 75% of it ourselves and we only want family and only close friends.

12-15. I want it more personal. It is a destination wedding. This is my second go around and his first. I want to save money since we are paying and I want an elegant dinner with great food and don't want to compromise due to a high guest count.

My husband and I wanted the focus to be on family. So that's why we wanted a small wedding. It definitely helped the budget too! We invited 75, only 65 said yes...and about 50 showed up.

We looked at having the ceremony at church and the reception at a restaurant, but we were concerned for the kids that were coming and didn't want the celebration to be over after just an hour.

I moved the ceremony and reception to our home...and it was perfect! I had my absolute dream wedding. Had our family and only our closest friends invited. And the kids could run around the yard all they wanted! PERFECT!!

We are having 25 max. Beach wedding with dinner after. We both had been married before and know that the cost can be crazy for a large wedding. The people invited are all neat and dear to us and have supported us from the beginning.

I'm having an intimate wedding for a few reasons. The first is the venue that I loved can barely handle 60 people. Another is when I made my lost of people, there were only about 50 I wanted to attend (there will be a few more than that yo accommodate parent requests) & the third reason is I think it's ridiculous to spend a ton on a wedding. My budget is $5000. We could have a bigger budget but I don't see why I would want to.

We are inviting 75-80 but only expect between 50-60 bc it's 1.5 hours away.
