Why are wedding hashtags a thing

I think it is something fun which is why some people do it but if it is not for you, of course you do not need to do it.

I like the hashtags so when people post any pictures on social media, I can just search the hashtag and pull up all the pictures at once. Doesn't need to be for everyone.

I think they're fun because you can have all your pictures in one place. Like PP said, you can just search the hashtag and see all posts that are associated with it. I've searched the hashtag for weddings or events I've been to (or haven't gotten to go to) because I like to see other peoples' photos from events I'm interested in.

I mean, I'm using one so I can see all of my guests' posts in one place without having to make them download an app.

I consider myself a mature and kind person, I'd like to think I am neither juvenile nor trashy because I use a hashtag for my wedding...

I mean, they're not tacky at all. But I also don't understand getting SO worked up about finding a good or "unique" one - mostly because i've never actually noticed that people use them that much.

I am also having multiple photographers there, but I think the hashtag lets our guests be more involved... this is really the soapbox you want to stand on? Go for it, I guess...
