Why are people so mean?

Sadly, some people are just like that. Not matter what stage they are in their life. Weddings bring out the best, and the worst in people. I think the new wedding trend is going to be surprise weddings for family. The Bride and Groom will plan a 'party' of some sort and invte people over or to a venue and BAM, it's a wedding.

WoW...i'm glad i only stumbled on this site first. i have no clue what other sites there are out there...but i'm glad i'm here!

They have nothing better to do than hide behind an avatar and belittle people, because they are such horrible people themselves. Shrug it off, you're better than that.

Aww Jessica I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Weddings are suppose to be happy times but like barefoot wife said, unfortunately, weddings brings out the best but also the worse in people. I had a similar experience at another forum so I had checked out WW and one day I got curious and haven't visited anywhere else but here! Don't pay attention to mean people, they are awful and its their way of feeling better about their lives!

I am so sorry Jessica!!! People sometimes are rude and stuck up, but I wouldn't pay them any mind. This is the first forum I actually started to talk on so I couldn't imagine what they said. But you are always welcome here

Aww, don't let them get to you. People like that get pleasure out of hurting others because no one likes them in the real world. I'm glad I found ww first because I have a hard time dealing with mean people. everything will be ok. Weddings are happy occasions.

So sorry you had to go through the meanness. Sometimes, women are most women's worst nightmare. We should support one another, not tare one another down.

The thing I love about WW....no matter how big or small our budgets are, everyone is down to earth, and supportive.

I'm sorry that happened... actually I was on "Wedding Buzz" (the Knot) and omg, the brides there were horrible. The moderator ALWAYS had to come in and give "warnings" about personal attacks! I couldn't believe it. I posted a question, and I got attacked and got called names ... Never again. I came here and the women on here are respectful, responsive and nice ... I'm so happy I found this website

YES! Sad, right? That's how bad it was on that website. She would post in bold lettering " THIS IS YOUR FIRST WARNING ... please refrain from personal attacking or the post will be removed..." Lmao ....

I think the meanness has a lot to do with the size of the site. Back before the Internet (yes, I really am that old!), I belonged to a group on Prodigy. It was a very helpful and supportive group. Any time someone mean showed up, the rest of us chased that person off the board.

Then Prodigy got connected to the Internet, and all of a sudden, a lot more people found our little board. There got to be so many mean people that a lot of the regulars started feeling unsafe there. And with fewer of the regulars around, other regulars saw fewer interesting posts, so they left, too. So gradually, the mean people took over the board, and the rest of us left.

I think That Site That Must Not Be Named suffers from similar issues. The small boards--your month and year, local boards, Gay Weddings, Second Weddings, and Jewish Weddings--tend to be quite helpful and supportive. But the big international boards can feel like a school of sharks.
