Whose last name for wedding title

Septbride17, on April 5, 2017 at 5:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 27

Hello all,

What are you guys using for the title of your wedding. Example : The Smith Wedding

Whose last name are you using, yours or your partner's (or both) and why?

Just curious because we are still trying to decide wedding hashtag names and such.

Thanks everyone!

We're using his, because I'm taking his name. ETA: We're not doing a wedding hashtag though.

Why do you need a title?

We're incorporating both of our last names in the hashtag, but things like the cake topper just have his last name. I'm also not legally taking his last name, I'm hyphenating, and though I plan to go by his name socially I did want to have my name in some places too.

You should use his, especially if you are going to take your last name. However, the hashtag can be a play on your name! I'm pretty good with coming up with hashtags if you let me know the last names I can play with it!

A title for what, exactly? When communicating with our vendors, I used "my last name/his last name" to refer to our wedding.

No one is going to use your hashtag, just for the record....

We used both our last names. We didn't use a hashtag.

P.S. I'm not in a family/social circle, of name changers.

I just use J&J for everything that mandates a title for our wedding.

Sometimes I use the JK Wedding (his initials) for a small chuckle.

@celia We will be having a selfie station and want to encourage our guests to use the hashtags so we could see the pics posted after the wedding in one spot Smiley smile

Not sure what exactly would require a title, but all of our contracts are for the "MyLast/HisLast Wedding." Except the hair and makeup artist, who is just booked under my name.

My friends did use my hashtag, but I'm 24 so we are all pretty active on social media. I think whether or not people will use it depends largely on the age/personalities of your guests.

@celia, younger generations are indeed using hashtags and quite a lot! I have been to a few weddings recently within the last 2 years for couples in their 20s and almost everyone at the wedding used the hashtag! We are all super active on social media so it worked out great. Was definitely a lot of fun!!!

    @tania #HastaLaVistaLopez

We don't have a title. If the venue makes a sign it'll most likely say Wood/Reeder wedding. Not everyone on my side knows his last name and vice versa. That's the only think I can think of that a title would be used for. Cake topper just says love and everything else uses our first names. Our hashtag uses his name but it's not referring to me. It's Reedercaughtakeeper because FH loves to fish. HaHa!

His, because I changed my last name to his. We kept our hashtag simple - #newlastnamewedding15 - most people under 35 actively use social media so I think a hashtag is fine, just don't make it too complicated otherwise people will misspell it or won't remember it!
