Whole plan change

So it looks like we have completely changed how we are getting married.. we are now planning to elope in Hawaii spend a few days there for a honeymoon then return home and a few weeks later have our "reception" or celebration of our marriage I guess. Pretty sure some family members will be upset with me but they are also the ones who wouldn't have attended if we kept our original plan( which due to weather and what not it is no longer possible) so I feel like I shouldn't let them rain on my sparkly beach parade. Has anyone else done this or is planning to? My soon to be MIL paid for our cottage we will be stay im ng in and a tour we wanted to do as well.. so I'd say we dont have to worry about her being upset
