Who was the first person you told about your engagement?
Technically it was my best friend, because she helped set up the whole proposal, and was waiting for FH to text her to tell her to come back and celebrate with us,
But the first person I actually called to tell was my parents. I facetimed my parents right after it happened. FH was having the whole proposal recorded and after I said yes, I said "ohmygod, I need to call my mom!"
My FH sent the first few texts. Not sure if he texted my mom, his sister or our friend that designed/made my ring first (I am so picky and they were afraid I would hate the ring lol). Then he texted the rest of my siblings and his siblings and my dad. The first people I texted were all my bridesmaids, and a few other close friends that I knew would be mad if they didn't hear it direct from me.
He did it in front of our friends after our daughter's softball team won 3rd place (he coaches). The girls were all in on it and knew and so were my softball family/friends. So since my mom (who was suppose to be there but then decided to go to church) and sister (who lives out of town) where not there, I texted them first.
My parents. Our anniversary is the Sunday before Labor Day. So every Labor Day weekend we take off the Friday and have a long weekend. This year was our five year anniversary and he proposed at a secluded cabin we found so we could take our dog with. We waited to tell anyone so we could just enjoy it to ourselves for a few days. On Labor Day we went to my parents for a BBQ, and I told them than. My FH said my mom was more excited than I was, ha!
Our closest family and friends were there the day we got engaged! We were having a family BBQ that turned into an engagement party. Super sweet! I walked outside and our closest friends were holding up balloons that spelled out "Marry me?" He was at the end of the aisle that he created for me to walk. I screamed YES before he even got down on one knee! Lol ❤
My mom!!! FH laughs every time we watch our engagement video. (He had a camera secretly hidden filming the whole thing) Literally right after he proposes, I'm crying I say yes, of course, and he asks if I like the ring and I go "I GOTTA CALL MY MOM!" It was super cute (or so FH tells me) and its a good laugh. After my mom, we called my MOH and her husband (They had helped FH set up the proposal and were hiding in the neighborhood, waiting for us to call him.)
My mother lol her response was about time because he had asked her and my dad a couple weeks before but didn't tell them when he was doing it lol I guess for the last couple weeks, any time I called it was major suspense weather I knew or not lol
My Dad He was fighting cancer, but doing ok. He still loved the good news! Next up my Aunt who is like a mother to me, since my mom passed when I was a kid. I told my cousin/MOH in person, and then called my 2 BFF's, who would be my BM's.
