Who was the first person you called (or texted) after the proposal? Who did share the news with first?
I face timed my parents and they knew because I never face time and my fiancé asked them for their permission about a week beforehand they were so happy ... maybe even happier than I think I’ve ever seen them.
We were with a ton of people we knew immediately after, but didn't tell anyone who didn't see it happen. We were trick or treating with his son. It was a costumed proposal. We very quietly posted on Facebook 2 hours later and people's pockets started going off. I then immediately texted my dad's caretaker so that she could show him.
My FH planned a surprise birthday party for me with both of our families and closest friends there. They all knew ahead of time that it was happening. We didn't have many people to tell after that except some few friends that weren't able to make it. I think some of my family was group texting and sending live updates for me to the family that couldn't make it too.
Lol our best friends when we were officially getting engaged, who couldn't keep the secret and blurted it out to our friends the next time we were hanging out with people! Lmao, it was hilarious, but I did feel like my thunder was stolen a little.
We told my mom about it months beforehand though and she offered her old wedding set to us to use.
All the important people in our lives knew because he asked them for ring advice. The first person I called after we were engaged was my great grandmother.
My mom. She knew it was happening sometime on the birthday trip he took me on and she called to wish me Happy Birthday about 15 minutes after he popped the question. I found out later that two of my best friends and my dad knew about it too, along with most of his family. Pretty much everyone but me! :-D
The ppl I was living with, we were all sort of a tight nit family of Military friends living together in Norfolk, Va., actually E. Ocean View. It was special because he asked the the highest ranking enlisted man permission to marry me. 😺
We were already with a big group of our closest friends. I called my childhood best friend first. Then I called my family, but they were in on it so they didn't come first.
