Who usually wears a tux (besides wedding party members)?

Jones2020, on April 11, 2016 at 12:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I know this sounds stupid but I've haven't been to a wedding in over 10 years. But who usually rents a tux? I mean I know the groom, bestman, ring bearer, and my dad will but does his dad and brother rent one also? Because when I said the groom gets his for free of we have five rentals his mother looked at me like I couldn't do math because she said her husband and son were not wearing one because it's only the wedding party and my dad which wouldn't look right in pictures to me because I have OCD but when the groom told his mom it would bug me she said she didn't care what I wanted because that's not how it's done usually. I have had people tell me both dad's wear them but then she said that so I'm a little confused

Probably just his dad if you are going to have him in the wedding and in a lot of the pics. I wouldn't say the brother needs to unless he is part of the wedding party

My dad and his dad are both wearing a tux. My grandpa is also wearing one.

I think it's common, but not required, for the groom's father to wear a tux. Let it be his choice.

For the brother, if he's not in the wedding party, he doesn't need a tux.

I don't know that anyone else really has to. But our dads are wearing tuxes, and my brother is also.

Typically only the groom and the individuals in the BP will wear a tux. Dads are not required to and can wear what they want. The brother would not be required to if he's not part of the wedding party.

I think it would be nice if his dad did, but agree that he is not required to as he is probably not walking down the aisle or anything. The brother definitely does not need to if he is not in the wedding party.

It's not required, but my dad is choosing to also wear one. He's getting a different style than the GMs though. FH's dad is just wearing a suit.

I think it depends on the dress code of your wedding if you are doing formal then a tux maybe a nice touch but honestly a nice suite is just fine for someone who is not in the wedding and just a guest but family should look as if they are more than a guest but not in the wedding party but that's just me

Every wedding I have been too both dad's got tuxes. I wouldn't have his brother get one if he's not a part of the bridal party.

It's hard to tell parents to wear something specific. My dad is a jeans and sweatshirt type of guy so I'll be happy if he wears a button down shirt and dress pants!! But then again, I'm getting married on the beach so that will be appropriate. Smiley smile

Our wedding is very formal. I mean we have a very old, and classy venue I assumed the main family members would be dressed up

No one else has to but in ours both dad's did. My brother wore a suit he already had. Besides the groom, groomsmen and ring bearers, no one else is really required to wear a tux.

Both dads are for ours, but they'll both be in the wedding. FOG will be walking out with the officiant and my dad will, of course walk me. The dads tuxes match, the GM tuxes match, and FH has his own tux. We didn't get a tux for my brother, but he's not in the wedding.

My dad and FH's dad are both wearing tuxes. Other than that ... other the groomsmen and groom, of course!
