Who Should Come to the Wedding

MeganRochon, on November 29, 2019 at 5:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 18
So I have been making my list and really thinking seriously about who we want to share our special day with. How do you all determined who made the list?

I made my list based on the following questions:

    1. Do I and my fiance know the person?

    2. Does the person love both of us, and we both love and enjoy their company?

    3. Have we had contact with the person within the last year?

    4. Will they be ecstatic to share this day with us?

    5. How close are we?

Our list dropped from over 200 people to 140. And we are still narrowing it down to 100.

There will be hurt feelings, but in being honest with yourself, you'll get the number down.

We invited in circles. Immediate family, nieces, grandparents, aunts and uncles, first cousins. As far as friends, we only invited those who we spend time with on a regular basis.

Which family we talk to, friends that we are close to and who we can still envision being close with in the upcoming years

Aw thanks! I just cant imagine inviting people I'm not close to or I barely know. During Thanksgiving my FMIL suggested we invite a couple (one of her friends) so they dont feel left out. We said no, we barely know the couple and they aren't significant to us. Not to be rude.

I basically did if we send you a Christmas card/celebrate with you, you get an invite. I did NOT want a big wedding. It worked for us. We had 64 show up. 90 people invited (parents made us add a few)

We started with family and then close friends that we see on a regular basis. After that we used a rule that if we haven't talked to or hung out with the person one of us brought up within the last year, we would not invite them. We had a hard time making our list before the rule b/c my FH wanted to invite everyone he's ever met, hahaha. After we made the rule we actually cut our list down by 30; and we're still expecting 150.

Of course we are. My FH wanted to invite people from high school he hasn’t talked to in 8 years so that’s why we made the rule about the year. We’re allowing plus ones and we’re inviting some full households as well
