Who says "I do" first ( FH wants to know)- Celia please read

FutureMrs.DCT, on March 1, 2016 at 7:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

So of course FH picks this morning when I need to get in the shower to discuss wedding stuff. He asks me who says "I do" first in the ceremony because apparently he wants me to go first as he has some kind of plan for his (this makes me nervous, but I did verify he is going to say "I do"). I googled some wedding ceremony scripts and in them the bride goes first. Is this accurate, or does it really matter. Thanks in advance for the answers!

I just looked it up and it looks like the most common is for the groom to go first.

I guess that's good news.... depending on what he's planning lol

We had a traditional Jewish ceremony, and "I do" isn't customary...

Lol @ "I did verify he is going to say I do"! I wonder what he has up his sleeve?

I don't have an answer though I would imagine it could go either way?

I've been to weddings where the groom went first and others the bride went first. I would imagine it's personal preference of either you or your officiant.

Traditionally, the groom goes first. I think it probably dates back to the thought that the bride would be devastated if she said it first and then he did not.

I've seen both the groom and bride say I do first. It's a toss up. I know my friend said it first because she knew as he was saying his vows, she'd get choked up...which she did.

I'm quite curious what he plans on doing.

Me too Courtney N. Guess we have to wait a year to find out. There was some talk at one time of him holding up a boombox while I walked down the aisle, ala Say Anything.
