Who picks the father daughter dance song?

sarao, on February 22, 2010 at 12:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

My dad was asking me today if he picks the father daughter dance song. My dad is the type of dad that loves to put on a show, loves attention and loves all things about him. I have very strong boundaries when it comes to him and my wedding. What are you all doing? Are you picking the song or your dad?

I don't have a father/daughter dance but we FH and I are picking the songs. Since he can't find one he like for the mother/son dance I might enlist his mom to help suggest a few.

Why can't you talk to him about it and compromise on a song? I had my dad listen to the song that I loved for the song and he liked it too so I guess I got lucky. I do think that the bride picks it, but include your dad in the decision. I think he'd appreciate it since the song is for both of you.

This is a good question...I would like to know too. I have a few songs I love b/c they really remind me of my Dad and I, but I don't know if he's supposed to pick the song. I have been telling my mom to hint to him the songs I like...

My sister told me this morning that he got to pick the song for her wedding so he has already gotten to do that.I think I will get some options together and he can pick from those that way he can still be involved but I have pre-approved the songs.

I don't know what the norm is, but my dad is really sentimental, so I know it would mean a lot to him to let him pick the song. He's already throwing his version of a fit because he didn't get to pick his tux. It's not a control thing, he just wants to be involved.

I would talk with him about songs you both like. I'm picking out a few songs and letting my dad listen to them so that we can both have one that we like. We are actually having more problems with the mother/son song or in our case songs. Fh doesn't really like any of the songs that his mother and I like and I am still looking for a good song to dance with our son to.
