Who picked out your ring?

I was just wondering if anyone else's fiance/spouse picked out your engagement and wedding ring on their own. When my dh proposed I had no idea it was going to happen. He picked out both my engagement ring and wedding band before he proposed. And he picked out exactly what I never knew I wanted....

When we went to get it sized the salesperson was telling me about how he was trying to pick something that was perfect for me and that made me love it and him even more.

FH picked had my engagement ring mad with Diamond from his grandmother and we both will pick out our rings because mine will have to be made as well to match. I am very very impressed with what he picked because like you, I didn't really know if I'd actually like this style and now I can't imagine anything else.

My ring was his great grandmother's ring, so I guess his great grandfather picked it out!! It got passed to hubby, then given to me. I had no idea what it would look like until he popped the question.

I love rings from the Art Deco time period and there is really only one store in San Francisco that has a wide enough selection to choose from. My FH asked me to send him photos of rings I liked and then he met with a jeweler and designed my ring! I love it so much!

I had given him pictures just for a general idea, but he picked my actual ring on his own (and it's soooo much better than any pictures I printed). We'll go together to look at bands.

I wanted a nice sized blue sapphire in a halo setting since I have large hands. Instead I have a blue diamond in a halo setting that's rather tiny. I didn't want to appear greedy, or ungrateful, so I didn't speak up when my husband picked the ring.

My FH and I have dated each other for quite a long time before he proposed (10 years). It was a complete surprise, especially the ring!

A lot of people who know us would consider us non-traditional traditional, as in we believe in traditions but with our own uniqueness in mind. FH confessed to me that the ring and his proposal had been in the works for about 7 months! He had a jeweler custom create my engagement ring: a winged dragon made of white gold, a Ruby in the center of it's back with white diamonds on one side and 6 black diamonds on the other, and two emeralds for the eyes. He designed it with a very much beloved book of our in mind: Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy. Although it wasn't the kind of ring I would have guessed he'd purchase, it is the most beautiful, exquisite ring that graces my hand. It's not what it is made of or even the cost (I don't want to even think about it): it's the simple fact that he put so much thought into it that gives it the most value to me. He admitted that a week before he proposed (he had the ring in his possession for a whole month by that point) he began worrying that I wouldn't like it, especially considering its size and that I have small hands, that he almost cried with relief when I told him how much I loved both the ring and him!

Now whenever I go to the jewelers (2 fittings and had them check it to make sure I hadn't lost a stone...long story), all the sales reps and specialists call me The Dragon Lady and like to show other clients!!

We custom designed my engagement ring in NYC. I thought it was just as special as if he picked it out alone. He always said "the ring represents me when I am not there, so I want it to be perfect and I want you to love it!"

We both wanted to see the color of the rose gold just in case it was too coppery. We also wanted to pick out the perfect diamond together. Plus I love NYC, so designing my ring on the 36th floor of a skyscraper was an awesome experience.

My FH picked out my engagement ring. I did not even had a clue that he was looking for a ring. I was surprised when he proposed. He was not able to find a band that he liked that would look with my engagement ring. He went and bought me a new engagement ring that had a band with it. I did not know that he did that until after he purchased it.

FH picked mine out on his own. I was certain that he wasn't planning on proposing because I thought he would have asked my close girlfriends for help with something, and a few days beforehand (he proposed on our anniversary), when I was having some drinks with one of my friends (who's very bad at keeping secrets) she expressed how he should get a move on. He told no one and picked out something I probably never would have considered for myself, but I absolutely love it and wouldn't trade it for anything on my pinterest board!

As for the wedding bands, we're going to pick those out together.

Way before I had even had a thought of marriage in my head, my fiancé had shown me a couple ideas for later" they honestly weren't my style at all. As time went on and I had decided this was the guy for me I started sending him pics of rings just in case he felt the need to get one 😉this past November he was insistent on the purchase of the rings.. I picked out what I wanted and made him promise that I wouldn't know immediately when he got them, and still wanted the whole proposal to be a surprise. And on New Years Eve, it was an awesome surprise.

My daughter helped my fiancée pick it. She surprised us because she picked a blue sapphire something we would have never picked ourselves.

Love my FH to bits but there was no way he was picking out something I will presumably wear for the rest of my life on his own!! Smiley winking

My FH took my best friend with him to pick out my set, but just as confirmation that it was the right choice.. he chose it on his own and mixed elements of a few rings to design the perfect one for me! I love it! My best friend took pictures of him looking at rings and designing mine that she sent me after we were engaged!

I picked out both rings. My husband never would have tried to surprise me, because he would be too worried that I wouldn't like it.
