Who pays for wedding bands

Bethanie, on June 4, 2014 at 10:29 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

Just curious if it's traditional for the bride and groom to buy each others wedding bands, or is it just something that goes into the general wedding budget and we pay for it together? I'm pretty sure we are doing the latter but I'm curious as to what you all are doing or have done!

Our finances are pretty shared so even though we are technically paying for each other's I'm including it in our wedding budget.

He paid for mine when he bought my engagement ring, I paid for his with "my" wedding money that I had saved.

We paid for each other's. We pretty much share finances, though, so it's pretty much like we paid together.

It came out of our wedding budget, which we both contribute to.

When I bought his ring from Kay's around Xmas, they were giving out Santa bucks, I got a $200 gift card just for buying his ring. So I used it towards my band.

Technically I paid for his and he paid for mine. Since we live together though, my money is his money and vice versa.

We are paying for our own with our own money (so not wedding budget money and me for mine and him for his), though maybe I could ask him to switch with me since I never thought about that until now.

I feel bad because my band is twice as much ($450) as his ($225). But he wants tungsten because of the type of work he does. I think I just feel better about paying for them out of the wedding budget lol

DH paid for my 2 antique rings and I paid for his (although he did contribute some gold to be melted down -- we had his ring custom designed).

The cost of each of our rings was very close, so we split the bill and each paid half from our own money (not wedding fund).

We are not including this in the budget. Typically the groom pays for hers, and the bride pays for his. I have seen so many grooms bands, and it looks like they're super cheap! You can get really nice ones for like $100-$200.

I paid for mine and he paid for his. We don't really have separate money though, and won't after we get married so it doesn't matter. No one is going to ask you who paid for the rings, do whatever you want.

We paid for his from our wedding fund. I'm not wearing or purchasing a wedding band since my e-ring band is 6mm. It would look far to gaudy.

We bought our own - mine was more expensive and I was willing to pay for what I wanted.

We just paid for it ourselves out of our savings/earnings. Didn't include it in the wedding budget because we'll own them forever. Every couple is different (as seen here) and can do it however they like!

My best friend bought the ring for her now-husband and "proposed" to him with it before the wedding (they were already engaged) so she could propose too. They are romantics and it worked for them.

We share money because we have been together for so long. but we used my mothers diamond from her ring, (that saved alot of money)

Traditionally, if you don't share money you buy eachothers ring.
