Anyone growing their hair long for their wedding? I'm still kind of torn on it. I want beautiful long curled hair for my wedding, but I also know that I'm picturing hair that I just don't have I think this is just the on-going internal struggle of me wanting long hair but also realizing I look...

I think this is just the on-going internal struggle of me wanting long hair but also realizing I look much better with shorter hair grrr

Any tips from those who did? Or lack or regrets from those who didn't?

Growing out my hair too! I decided to chop off 16 inches and donated it. We got engaged 3 months later! I was thinking ahhh if I would have known I would not have cut it! Lol But it's okay, it will grow back. I'm sure your hair will look beautiful on your wedding day! Smiley smile

I'm growing my out (even though it's already passed my boobs. I'll get a a few trims before hand just to get rid of any split ends but I wanna have it curled so the longer I can get the better!

My hair takes forever to grow - Argh! I am starting now in hopes that in 20 months it will be long enough for the wedding!

I grew mine out for my brothers wedding in 2012, then cut most of it off and started again for my middle brothers wedding which was last June, and I've just sort of left it alone since then. My hair is long but very fine. I have my hair and makeup trial this weekend so we shall see.

I wouldn't really say I'm growing my hair out more maintaining the length and health. I have always had long hair. Now it's just a little longer. My hairspitation might actually need thicker hair so I might add extensions for fullness. Smiley smile

My hair is so long that I am thinking about cutting it! I honestly think that my hair will be too long for the updo that I want, and if I leave it down, I'm sure the curls will just tangle together! So I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

I'm with you HCTY. I've more much laws had long hair. And I'm just maintaining it.

I've donated hair twice, my hair grows like weeds. It's currently Right above my pants when curly so straight I'm sure it's at my butt. FH calls me Eve (like from the Bible) lol.

To maintain my curls and keep them healthy ive been using DevaCurl since a list before the summer and have definitely seen a different in how healthy my hair is. I also stopped straightening it, which is a b*tch in the winter when it's cold and my hair literally takes a full day to dry. But its great for my split ends and curl definition which I was loosing from straightening it so much.

I'm terrified to cut it even though it grows so an fast, but it's also driving me nuts, I kinda want to trim it, think I'll be safe?

I'm growing mine out. I've just been getting a slight trim (or a 'dusting' as my stylist like to call it) every few months or so just to ward off any split ends. Also, I get a deep conditioning done on my hair once a month.

I'm growing mine out. I want it to reach my lower back, but I doubt that will happen by September. I've been taking Biotin (10,000 mcg), and once a week on, a day when I don't have to be anywhere, I saturate my hair and scalp with coconut oil, leave it on all day and night, and then wash it the next morning. I was skeptical at first, but it's really working! I've been doing it for 6-8 weeks, and it's already grown 4 inches (curly, so I guess that's closer to 10 inches of actual growth since shrinkage is sooooo real).

I'm growing my hair out and then doing the wifey chop! I plan on doing the inversion method and there's biotin in my daily green superfood powder. Going by your date, you could grow 9 inches with the inversion method. Maybe more!

You're supposed to do it once a month, MAYBE twice depending on the person. You can look up the instructions, but basically you flip your hair upside down and brush your scalp to get extra blood flowing to it. You do that for like 15 minutes I think? You do that every day for a week and it makes you grow an inch. Then you're supposed to take 2-3 weeks off before doing it again. My FSIL tried this and it worked! I keep meaning to; I want really long hair for my wedding.

And I second @lara's coconut mask idea!! Healthy hair grows faster, and coconut oil is absorbed by the hair shaft like nothing else, adding moisture to prevent breaking and split ends.

@rachel your hair is gorgeous! I think you're safe with a trim Smiley smile

@littlefoot thank you! I just paranoid that it will look terrible lol. And if it does come out bad I can't use coconut oil because I'm highly allergic :/

@rachel is it currently layered or was it cut straight across? If it's not layered there's no real risk of the trim going wrong - it's just 1/2 inch or so, right? But if it's layered that's a bit more difficult to trip all the ends (to someone who's not a stylist, like me), however, most stylists are good at layering and trims at least.

Either way, you do have until September to continue growing, and cutting ends will help keep it healthy! Sorry you're allergic, that sucks :/

It is layered, I have to find a new stylist here in Chicago that is affordable but good. I haven't gotten it cut since the spring...

Emily - Did that stylist say what extensions she recommended? Which ones did you use? I've been trying to grow this shit out, but I'll probably do the extension route.
