We originally thought of sparklers but Im not sure how great they will look at 4 pm. I absolutely love butterflies so we are thinking a butterfly release/ Not sure if we want us to do a mass release or if I want the guest to each get one (more expensive). OP, you may be realizing you're not gonna get a lot of responses from people who have done this. Why? Because most people recognize why this is a terrible idea and don't do it.

To actually contribute, I have not done or seen any kind of live creature release. Daytime alternatives: confetti, small flowers, bubbles, streamers/ribbon wands, fake sword arches or any kind of arch, GLITTER

@Bryce I know several people who are deathly afraid of birds. I have a friend who is and I send them videos of people being attacked by birds. (I'm a great friend!)

    This is my favorite.

BRYCE I am actually very scared of birds/bats/flapping wings in my face.

I think it's rooted in this story: When I was a kid, I was having a slumber party at my aunt's house. In the middle of the night, she ran into the bedroom, telling me that there was a bat in the house and I'd better stay under the covers unless I wanted the bat to build a nest in my hair.

I was never the same again.

I am really gunning for a glitter farewell. For me, I meant. But everyone should do them. Consider it, OP.

Cats that sounds terrifying. Prey mantises scare the crap out of me. One flew at my face and I haven't been the same since, so I get the fear of flapping wings. And cicadas! Basically any flying bugs.

OP, maybe consider having the guests throw dried Lavender. It's pretty and doesn't harm the environment.

I would be pretty upset as a guest at a wedding where live animals are released for entertainment. Just because reviews of a company are good online doesn't mean that it's humane or ethical.

@therightlane My good friend is deathly afraid of ladybugs and since I'm a horrible friend, I always text her photos of the ladybugs I find in my house.

@OP No one can guarantee you that the butterfly's will be alive for release. Dosnt that tell you a lot?

Bubbles and/or ribbon sticks sound like a way better alternative!

edit: birds freak me out but it more has to do with there eyes then then flying. Why do they dilate their pupils? I feel like they are plotting my demise

What about a single men release? The single ladies can pounce and claim them right at the ceremony. First come first served! I joke.

I would love a puppy release! Or better yet - people - no kids at reception...but your pets are fine!

To the OP - don't do this! It is a horrible idea. If you love butterflies, use that money to donate to a butterfly exhibit somewhere. There is a great one in Grand Rapids, MI.

@Beka I also feel like birds are going to land on me and peck my eyes out and put their claws in my scalp. :-(

Now I'm kinda bitter puppy releases aren't a thing. Husband and I have FIERCE puppy fever at the moment so the thought of attending a wedding where puppies were being released and I could just swoop one up is kinda alluring...

@Pcakes that's why I love it. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

    Glitter, not herpes.
