Who goes dress shopping with you?

Chelsea, on January 8, 2020 at 4:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Hello Brides!

I am not going to go look at wedding dresses till a year out so this July but just curious who did you take with you to share that moment. I have been in 4 weddings and 3/4 i went with the bride to pick the dress. I really don't have room to take all the ladies with me and my family. I will have 6 bridesmaids.

I am thinking my mom, grandma, god mother, Maybe maid of honor? Maybe mother of groom? Do I then involve grooms grandma? (we both only have 1 gma.)

I feel bad for my FH mom because she had all boys so do I invite her?

Just curious what others did Smiley smile

Thanks!

I invited my mom, FMIL, my two sisters, and FSIL (my sisters and FSIL are in the bridal party). Less is definitely more when taking people dress shopping with you. I would invite your FMIL though, usually they are invited Smiley smile

You can do whatever you want! I invited everybody, and ended up with 8 people there. I personally had a great time, but it could have easily gone wrong with that many people. I agree with PP, invite your FMIL. Otherwise any other maybes, leave at home

There is no rule on this. It is up to you but less is better. Some shops have a max. Mom and MOH could work and MIL if you want.

I brought one friend the first time and my mom and sister the second time. I just don’t like big groups. I’d also never invite women on my FH’s side because they don’t like me

    Hi Chelsea,
I only brought my MOH, after I found my dream dress, I returned to the boutique with my mom to show her the dress, I had been advised by other brides who thought they were being pressured into buying dresses to please everyone else! My dress is from Stella York , style 6979 if you care to Google it!!!!! Good luck!!!

I get nervous and break out to hives when im the center of attention.. However, i feel presure as im the only girl and first one to get married. So my mom, aunt, and grandma are on my case to make sure they all go which is fine but they also can be very opinionated. Then to top off FMIL is VERY opinionated so this wont go over well and i will scream lol.

I personally think more than 4 people is too much. Also some bridal salons have a limit on how many guests you can have. I brought my mom, FH’s mom, and my MOH. My grandma was supposed to come but wasn’t feeling well that day. After I picked my dress, I sent a picture to my bridesmaids and that was that!

I went with just my mom. It was so wonderful having just her & me and not being distracted by a bunch of people.

I only asked my mom and 3 best friends, who also happen to be my MOHs. I didn’t want more than those people there because I want it to be my decision and knew the people I invited would give me the most honest opinions without possibly ruining the moment if they don’t like what I pick. My advice is don’t worry about pleasing everyone else, it’s your choice!

I invited my mom, sister and FMIL. FMIL only had boys, so I wanted this to be a good reason to bond with her and share a great experience Smiley smile

One or two people. Even kleinfields says two or three even though they always show more. I took my sister, went with my niece and her daughter, went by myself and went with one friend. I bought when I was with the friend

I invited my mom, matron of honor, and FMIL. Like your situation, my FMIL also has only boys so it was one way she could also participate in the wedding festivities! Smiley smile
