Who else hates their dress when bustled?

I really feel like it takes away from the dress. However, I do not feel like carrying my train around all night. It's not something I thought about when I picked my dress but it seems so poofy in the back. All I can think of is the wicked stepsisters from Cinderella! Lol. Ok, it's not quite that bad...

Ok, it's not quite that bad but it's what comes to mind immediately! I didn't take a photo of the dress pinned up in the bustle at my appt, but it's a mermaid style dress (Maggie Marianne, if anyone is familiar with it). Anyone else feel like this?! This is what I feel I look like. Ha

I despise bustles! I hated all of the possible options the seamstress showed me, so I asked if we could just cut it off. She looked at me in horror and said she's not allowed to do that. I said, "no problem, I'll just grab some scissors after the ceremony and do it myself." She was not pleased. haha Made a note for myself to make sure I can get one of the other seamstresses to do my alterations. ;-)

With that said, I think your dress would look pretty bustled where the dress goes from fitted to flared. Maybe you can remove the under layers and add a full skirt underneath for the ceremony. Then remove the skirt to bustle for the reception so it'll lay flatter? I really have no if that would work or what the type of bustling would be called though.

The best part about my dress is the fabric and the small, puddle of my train. I did not like the look of it bustled, it looked like it was caught on something. Instead I have the wristlet thingy. It is much more flattering and it shows off the fabric.

The shirt of my dress is not puffy, or ballgowny. It is more flowy and free. (as a point of reference)

I hated the first bustle that the seamstress put on my dress. I was too nervous to say something (thinking it was my only option, and I was totally thinking 'well, I don't really like any bustles though...') Then my bridesmaid who was with me totally took control lol She told the seamstress that we weren't a fan and that the bustle takes away from the dress. The seamstress then totally changed it around and I love it now! I can't wait for my fitting Smiley smile

I stalked my dress like crazy online, and in every picture, the bustle looked ridiculous-- totally like a wad of toilet paper coming out the top. So when my seamstress did it, she made it attach really low on the dress and at multiple points so that it would still lay flat-- it turned out great.

This is my biggest fear - I hate bustles they always look funny. I'm going to try and tuck my train under my dress I think if that makes any sense.....

I didn't like my bustle. I didn't HATE it, but I didn't like it at all either. In the end I figured I don't have to look at the bustle, so whatever. I definitely prefer all my pictures where I wasn't bustled though.

Mine will have a bell bustle and I absolutely LOVE it! My dress is a satin mermaid though so I don't know if that kind of bustle would look right on your dress

I really did not want a train, my first wedding I had it cut off and was planning on doing it again. However my dress is lace and the train is so pretty and would be a fortune to hem all of it. I had the bustle pinned at my first fitting but really couldn't see how it would look.
