Who does what? i need helpers!

Andrea, on June 16, 2018 at 11:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Several have said they’d love to help with decorating the ceremony and reception. I know I can’t do it all and realize that taking down everything will be even more work...and I’ll be gone on my honeymoon! I just feel bad asking wedding guests to help with clean up. I feel they should enjoy the wedding not have to work. My bridesmaids are all mothers and their kids are coming as well so I know that they’ll want to get home after the wedding and not clean up, my soon to be mother in law and sister in law said they’d love to help....but I feel so bad to ask (yes, I’m just used to doing it all). However my mom had said that she does not want to help. Im so confused!!!!

That's what Day of Coordinators are for. You are correct in thinking that it is wrong to ask your guests to work on your wedding.

You need to hire a day of coordinator to help with set up and clean up. It is not right to have your guests or loved ones do this.

My family has no issues with helping set some stuff up. For tear down we just have to take down the personal stuff at the end and the venue cleans up. So if they offer to help let them. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Myself and a ton of family helped my cousin set up and clean up her wedding venue. The bride and groom even did set up and clean up too. So it just depends on you and your family’s willingness to help. 😊

If they offer, I’d ask what they would be willing to help with. I know I’ve not been to one wedding that has had a DOC and family and friends help with set up and tear town. Just see what they would like to help with and go from there.

I’d like to note that I also have a day of coordinator but the men in my family still don’t mind helping with some of the high up stuff. Our event planner said the day of coordinator wouldn’t go on a ladder so that’s why we would need some guys to help with that. (fathers, brother in laws, brother etc)

Not everyone has extra money for a day coordinator. I know not all places include them. You should take the help. Most people wa t to help to feel inviolved.

I would recommend searching WeddingWire for a cheaper helper. I was discouraged and about to have our friends and family clean up the major stuff. We’d put so much money in the wedding I could bring myself to put a ton of money into what a lot of coordinators were charging. Our venue comes with a day of coordinator but as a PP said ours also didn’t do clean up and ladders aside from general stuff. All extra decoration/centerpieces has to be us since we aren’t making them all! Then I finally came upon someone who charges 50 dollars and hour to clean and deliver everything home at the end of the wedding.
