My fiance and I got engaged while we were on vacation (just us) a couple years ago! I totally did not expect it. He had brought a bottle of my favorite wine that we had been saving, and we drank that right after we got engaged. We celebrated with family and friends once we got back from vacation.

We actually didn't formally announce anything until like months later, he didn't propose to me - we decided together it was time to take the next step, picked out a ring and waited for it to come in and once I had my ring we then just drove around all day to tell family in person and called/texted friends later and then posted it on facebook - nothing super fancy

He proposed the first night of our vacation with Jamaica with his aunt and uncle so we technically celebrated with them all week!

My husband proposed in Miami when he planned a trip for our anniversary and my birthday. We went out to a nice restaurant on our anniversary where he proposed. It was just us as far as people I knew, but the restaurant also had other guests who obviously clapped and celebrated the proposal as well. I immediately text my mom, sister and bestfriend the news and he made a post on social media afterwards.

We went to NOLA and spent the rest of the day just the two of us celebrating - after we made the parent calls and sent texts to siblings and friends. It was wonderful

Great way to start a vacation!! Very cool that you got to celebrate with his aunt and uncle all week. Did they know ahead of time that he was going to propose?

They did! His aunt is his mom's sister so when he went ring shopping she went with him and his mom. And he recruited his aunt and uncle for pictures/videos of the proposal so he got to propose in private but still get pictures!

We did a little bit of both, spending time together but also with family. He proposed to me at the Christmas tree farm right after we picked our tree. The farm was down the street from his sister's house, so we stopped in to see her and tell her the news. Then we went to his parents' house. I had called my parents to let them know and they put together a dinner for the 4 of us to celebrate later that night. We FaceTimed his other two sisters, my cousin and my aunt and we called grandparents and other family members we are close to that we wanted to know.

Before dinner, we went to the Christmas tree lighting our town was having on their green and it was just us. We were both so excited and the magic of Christmas was just adding to the excitement for us, so it was really nice. I was really glad to have that time with him, just him and me. It was probably my favorite time of the day.

FH proposed during a trip to Hawaii (I had NO idea it was coming because we hadn’t looked at rings. But he did a fabulous job!!). So it was just the two of us. He proposed the second day we were there. I called and told my best friends and parents the day afterward. It was really cute because my parents already knew it was going to happen and they kept it a surprise. But once we get home, I didn’t feel like a party was needed. Simply sent engagement announcements to friends and started planning the wedding.

Both of our families were there for another kind of celebration and we had a great time after. I was very surprised.

The night we got engaged, we went out to dinner and had a couple hours to ourselves before telling immediate family. That weekend was the Jewish holidays which are a big deal for his family, and my mom happened to be visiting us that weekend... so it all came together where we got congratulations from a ton of people all in the same weekend. (I'm sure he timed the proposal so things would line up that way)

He proposed on Christmas Day in front of my parents. Him and my parents all took shots of limoncello (which was part of his proposal) I sat out on the shots as I was fighting a hangover from emotionally drinking Christmas Eve lol

After the shots we immediately hopped on a Zoom Call with all my cousins!

My husband proposed right when we got back to his apartment after going out for dinner, so it was just the two of us and probably around 10pm. We both called immediate family and then went to bed. Super exciting stuff! But he proposed on 10-30-2020, 5 days before my 30th birthday. My sister had planned a "dirty thirty" birthday party for me on Halloween, so we got some celebration with friends in there. On Halloween, before the party, he and I did some wine tasting together. We took the weekend to be excited and soak it all in, then I got to work with wedding planning on Monday. We didn't have an engagement party.

We got engaged on vacation, but we FaceTimed my sister afterward to share the news. We told everyone else once we got home, and then had a night out to celebrate with my sister and her boyfriend the weekend after. We had an engagement party about a month and a half later!

We got engaged during lockdown in our country, so after it happened all we were really allowed to do was facetime everyone and have champagne by ourselves to celebrate.

I honestly cannot remember what we did that night, but we weren't allowed to go out for dinner, so we must have ordered something in because we definitely didn't cook! I can't believe I don't remember that, while I DO remember that just before he asked me, we went to get takeaway coffee, and this woman was SO RUDE to the staff there that I commented on it to him on the walk home. I was actually thinking the other day how funny it was that I'll likely always remember that woman being rude because it happened on the morning I got engaged. It's just so weird what your brain holds on to.

I think we celebrated with friends in person a few weeks later when you could have a few (less than 10) people in your house - just did the rounds of dinner with friends at various houses.

We never had an engagement party because it seemed so distant from when we actually got engaged, but that was ok, we didn't really want one anyway.

Before our falling out with one of these friends we visited them in WI. My fiance brought them in on his plan to purpose. So after the engagement we just went out to dinner and celebrated.

The day he proposed we went to lunch together. It was the middle of the semester so no big trips. We’re going to Disney on Friday to celebrate my graduation and have a special dinner planned to celebrate a bit bigger our engagement from April!
