That is super sweet! I love that he was able to include them in the proposal in a few different ways, and that he got videos/pictures to capture the moment!

Those are all great ways to celebrate! I love that you were able to take some time for just you two to celebrate with each other, and also that you got to spend time with family as well. The Christmas tree lighting afterwards sounds so magical and romantic, almost like something you'd see in a movie! Very cool!

We were essentially already married, it was just about when he would propose rather than if. He put it off for a while because of covid, he said he wanted to celebrate with our families and didn't want the focus to be on the pandemic. I didn't care - I didn't need our families to be there. I had gotten so fed up waiting for a ring I almost asked him to just give me his credit card so I could buy myself one on Etsy.

But he had apparently been planning a big thing with our immediate families the whole time. He asked for my hand from my step dad the week before who advised him not to tell my mother, aunt or grandma until the very last minute or else they would spill the beans xD.

Then on a Friday night, he distracted me by asking if I wanted to have a "date" (meaning we dress up, order take out and drink wine at home because of Covid) and being overly sentimental - blaming it on a terrible day at work. He took me outside and played our song while we danced. When the song ended I turned around and both our immediate families were there and he proposed on the front lawn. He had also been livestreaming the whole thing on IG Live xD so everyone else who was either out of town or couldn't be there because of Covid could see. My mom had brought cupcakes and I finally got to open the bottle of wine we had been saving for 3 years.

I honestly didn't need all the hoopla, but the thought and care he put into everything made me feel so special and I'm never going to forget it.

Great idea to spend some time just you two! Did the proposal happen during dinner? Or was the dinner part of your celebration after the proposal? Very cool that timing lined up so you could celebrate with everyone in person that same weekend!

We had already planned the dinner beforehand since it was our anniversary. He popped the question just as we were leaving home!

That's awesome that you were able to celebrate with friends a few days later! My fiance and I also didn't have an engagement party. Sounds like a great timeline - you took some time right away to celebrate with just you two and also with friends/family, and then started planning afterwards!

Yes! He sprung it on me first thing when we got there. We unloaded bags, walked down to the falls and he got down on his knee right there. I had a feeling that may have been the weekend he would propose, we were celebrating our 2 year anniversary, but it never occurred to me it would be right away lol. He said he wanted the whole long weekend away to be celebrating our engagement Smiley smile

    Hi there!

My fiance and I just went to a winery just the two of us. My family isn't really big on celebrating these types of events such as engagements/birthdays plus we don't particularly like being the center of attention. So it was a no-brainer for me and my fiance to celebrate alone. It was lovely, we had a great time!
