White, bone, ivory, eggshell... help!

Michele, on January 30, 2020 at 9:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

I just bought the fabric for my dress and it is soft and luxurious. I think the color

would be considered champagne or maybe off white... not sure. The color is listed as

"white" but it is not white. When I hold it up to my face it looks yellowish, and I think it

makes me look ruddy. I'm torn. I love the fabric but what if it is a terrible color on me?

Would make up help?

Thoughts?

Are you making your dress? Also, depending on the lighting, your dress or fabric can look a lighter or darker shade. I would try to take a picture with it against my skin to see and try different lighting. I would hate for you to wear a different shade of foundation and the rest of your body not match it either. Maybe even compare the fabric to other color fabric you have. Take a picture and share it!

Hey Michele Smiley smile Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

I too would recommend taking pictures of the color against you in different lighting. It may have been the reflection of the light in the mirror that made it look off and slightly yellow against your face.

Are you planning to make your own dress? Have you designed it yourself?

I chose a pattern and hired a dress maker. I think with the right makeup it will be lovely. I'm going with it!

I have long sleeves so I think it's going to be fine. I will ask my dressmaker. She is a fashion institute instructor. I am hopeful she will set my heart to rest. I'd send a photo but the color on the screen seems entirely different from real life.
