Which came first: deciding on your first dance song or your songs for parent dances?

First dance song. It was easy to choose "our" song as our first dance song.

We... well I, had our first dance song picked out before we even got engaged. We are letting my dad choose the song for the father/daughter dance and my FH's mom pick the song for their dance.

A combo really. I have always wanted to dance with my mom too (dad's shouldnt get all the fun just cause they have daughters) and had that song picked out way before I met my fiancee - Elvis's Cant Help Falling in Love (its the one mom used to sing to us and dance around the house with us when we were super tiny). But once we got engaged we picked out and blended our first dance songs right away - I did the music editing myself with software I have been using for years to blend my own music. We wanted a more upbeat song and one that was super sweet and for it to be very LGBT forward so it just made sense to blend two of our favorites into one decent length medley. We will start to I'll Cover You from Rent and transition into She Keeps Me Warm by Mary Lambert.

I let my dad pick our dance song after. I had suggested a couple to mom to see if he liked any cause he was being very quiet and shy about the whole dance thing and he finally told her that he had always pictured us dancing to My Girl by the Temptations so that is what we are doing. My FS still hasnt decided if they are dancing with their dad or not but their mom wouldnt want to in front of everyone.

Our first dance song will be something that represents us from either Jason Mraz or Dave Matthews Band.

My father/daughter dance song has been a challenge because I don't want to pick songs that are constantly used.

For him and his mom, they have a rocky relationship so song choice has been put off for now.

Neither! We are not doing the father/daughter dance, mother/son dance nor dances at all. We plan to have a reception several months after the wedding, but it will be a casual party.

We haven't decided for sure on either but we have a first dance in mind

Our first dance song came first, we haven't thought about what our parent dance songs will be.
