Where do I have to get a marriage license from if we're getting married on a cruise through the Bahamas?

I've been looking for information about where do I have to get our marriage license if we're getting married on a cruise when its at port in the Bahamas.

You need to speak to the cruiseline. I am getting married on carnival while it is at port in Nassau and I am paying for the marriage license through the 3rd party vendor. Again, you need to speak to the cruiseline because you need to be in Bahama waters 24 hours otherwise it's not legal.

I guarantee you that your cruise line has this information in the weddings area of its website. Licenses are by country, so wherever you are you need a license from that country. Some countries this is relatively easy, and some it is very difficult/ impossible. In addition, if you get married at sea, you will have to get a license from the home port country of the ship. That is usually Malta right now. Documents will have to be completed before embarkation, which can include having them translated and apostilled.

If you don't have any luck on the website, call the cruise line. I guarantee you they have been through this a million times and can point you in the right direction.

If your cruise departs from Florida, you can get married here before departing on the cruise. Then there's no question about it being legal.

Carnival will not allow you to get married at Sea. If you want that option, you need to get married prior and have the vow renewal at sea.

I always recommend that my island and cruise couples get married in a quick ceremony here. It's really the easiest thing and when you need your license for other things, it originates in the USA, which is really advantageous.
