Where did you register for lawn mowers and snow blowers?

We decided to do majority of our wedding registry at BBY. The only problem is they don't sell gas lawn mower or gas snow blowers. Did did everyone else registry for these items?

@jacqui722- thanks, you took the words outta my mouth!! I think Sears is going to be the best option.

Please don't register for a lawn mower and a snow blower. You're just opening yourself up for unkind remarks that may or may not get back to you and weddings are already stressful enough without adding to it. Good luck.

@livelybride- thanks for your opinion but I don't believe that I hear bad remarks from my family and friends since they are the ones telling me to register for those items.

Yea I'm on the side that it's a bit inappropriate to register for those kinds of things.

Hmmm, there are way too pricey for a wedding gift in my opinion...

I say, don't register them. Chances are you'll get some people giving you money- use that.

@athenakay- I don't understand how it's inappropriate to register for those items? I thought the purpose of a registry to list items that I want for my home? It may be different from others but I live in chicago. I would need a snow blower much more than a fancy blender or fina china.

@futuremrsl- thanks for your opinion. I do understand that these items are pricey but I don't see why I can't register for them.

I was told to register for items of all price ranges from bridal registry consultants. I found pots/pans, fine china, vacuums, and other household items with same price range, should I not register for those also?

It seems to be too expensive of an item to ask for even if people want to go in on it. I also want a fancier TV and furniture for my house but I'm not going to ask for that.

@athenakay-if you want too lol. I think I'll leave what's appropriate and what's not appropriate to the professional bridal consultants who do this everyday. Good Luck your registry!

"Professional Bridal Consultants" = people who want your money spent at their store/company/vendor/etc. The dude at Macy's told me that, too.

I don't think I would have a problem with seeing that on someone's registry. Would I buy it myself? No, because I don't have the kind of money to buy that for someone as a wedding gift. But I'd think that maybe several people would go in on it, or that the couple was planning to buy it themselves with the completion discount. I completely understand that a snowblower is a very very useful item in certain places--we live in CT, have a 1/4-mile long driveway, and with all the snow this winter, I was grateful for the lawnmower/snowblower combo (snowblower attaches to the front of the rider mower) every single day. Like others have said, I'd rather see that than a PlayStation or 4 crockpots and 2 KitchenAids. Smiley smile What I'd do is research the one you want, find the best price on it, and add it to a universal registry like Amazon or myregistry.

@stephanie and athenakay- again thanks for your thoughts. I hope you both get everything you registered for! I do see your points but that's not going to change my mind about registering for items of my choice. If you have a suggestion on another store that might sell a lot of household items, then I would love to hear of those.

@emily-yes, I'm not expecting for anyone to buy me these items. I think it would be an awesome bonus if someone did. I do know in the past, family members have gone in together and purchases bigger ticket items for bridal and baby showers.

Sabrina, register for what you want. That stuff is practical to you, just like people registering for $500 worth of fine china is to come else. To each their own. Smiley smile

This reminds me....I haven't "accidentally" checked my registry today. Thanks Sabrina!

And honestly, I don't see anything wrong with it. Like was said before...if its acceptable to register for a $500 vacuum then why would a snow blower be taboo? We just bought one last fall during a Sears secret sale online...and love it! Just about any registry tip blog or article suggests registering for patio furniture, umbrellas and things like that....IMO those things aren't going to very enjoyable if you're looking at knee high tall grass!

Lol. It's one thing to register for a $500 china set, it's quite enough to register for $500 lawn mower. B/c lawnmowers are large pieces of machinery.

I get that you don't want to have a crazy expensive registry, but as those are obviously not the only things, this is totally fine?

I registered for a $600 meat grinder, and it was the first thing purchased. So...

    @maltese-your welcome girl!!

@bringonmay-thank you!- I just wanted advice on a different store to register for items. I love how everyone is now the expert on what's appropriate and what's not for other peoples lives.

@tania-We figured we would do that after the wedding. BBY has any event allows couples to come in after hours on a Saturday and finish buying what's left on their registry with I believe at 20%off and you can still used a 20% coupon with it.

A lawn mower alone might be okay but a lawn mower AND a snow blower? Why not appliances? Heck, why not a car?

So maybe your family won't be catty but trust me, there will be naysayers. This thread is right up there with the "Please give me a dress so I can get my mama outta jail!" thread.

@m - I don't understand the difference actually. What makes a meat grinder, a dyson vaccuum, or a snow blower different? All are household items, all help with chores.

@m- thanks for your thoughts. Now to me I don't see the difference between registering for an expensive item as a lawn mower or snow blower but a $600 meat grinder is ok? Is it because my items are not sitting in the house? Not being an ass but just trying to understand?
